Role Summary/Purpose
The Renewable Energy Systems User Experience Designer will be part of a team that will focus on novel graphical user interface designs that facilitate a better understanding of performance and operations of General Electric's wind and solar Energy power plants. In this role, you will provide creative and technical input in the development of next generation software systems working with cross-functional teams that span from local and remote monitoring centers to field operation.

Essential Responsibilities
  • Direct responsibility for development of intelligent, usable and engaging interface designs from conceptualization to implementation
  • Design, develop and deploy interface, content, and interaction flow
  • Create UI designs, interaction diagrams, use cases, wire frames, mock-ups, prototypes, design specifications, guidelines, and screen flows
  • Ability to create interfaces that are fast, consistent across browsers, and demonstrate an intimate knowledge of browser quirks and best practices
  • Work closely with Product Leadership team and commercial team to gather inputs
  • Work closely with Front-End Development team to execute on UX
  • Conduct user research, run usability tests and incorporate user feedback

    Qualifications/Requirements
  • A Bachelors degree in art or design related field
  • 2+ years of UI design and web development experience demonstrating a proven ability to deliver compelling device interactions for various platforms
  • 1+ year professional working experience in developing web based graphical user interfaces (GUIs), and its technology

  • Expert level of graphic design skills needed for the development of GUIs
  • Aptitude for SW engineering and market inputs
  • Ability to create user interfaces based on human factors and ergonomics principles, end-user needs perspective
  • Demonstrate a desire for staying current with emerging trends in user experience.
  • Clean, attractive, engaging design style, and strong verbal and written communication skills
  • Development IDEs: Visual Studio .Net, Visual Studio 6 *Database Technologies: Microsoft SQL Server
  • Web Technologies: Silverlight, HTML, CSS, Asp.Net (VB), JavaScript (Including DHTML & AJAX), XSLT, XML, Active Server Pages (ASP),
  • Graphics Programs: Fireworks, Photoshop, Illustrator, Flash
