About the Job




General Purpose:
Help
organize lab and assist researchers in molecular, cellular and
behavioral level analysis to determine circuits and brain regions
critical to control of food intake and drug addiction.

Position Description:
• Perform cell culture, large-scale transfections, and purification of virus.
• Complete brain tissue collection, sectioning and analysis.
• Complete mouse tail sampling and perform PCR-based genotyping and database maintenance to organize mouse colony.
• Perform basic molecular biology techniques for analysis of gene or protein expression.
• Help organize and maintain lab computers and databases for protocols, reagents, etc.
• Keep track of general lab safety and administrative documents and requirements.












Qualifications:

Six years of related work experience, four of them in the same job
family at the next lower level, and high school level education; four
years of related work experience and an Associate's Degree; or little
or no work experience and a Bachelor's Degree in a related field; or an
equivalent combination of experience and education.
• Preferred:
Two years experience in research/laboratory facility; Bachelor's Degree
in molecular biology, neuroscience or related fields; experience with
molecular and cell culture techniques; experience with animal behavior
and surgery.
• Demonstrated ability to focus and perform with great detail orientation.
• Good organizational skills and demonstrated work/time efficiency.
• Able to work with others and individually.
• Demonstrated reliable attendance and professional attitude.
• Demonstrated facility with computerized laboratory, database and editorial systems.
