Research Data Manager
HealthCore, Inc, a health services research firm headquartered in Wilmington, DE, is currently seeking a Research Data Coordinator to work in our Wilmington, DE office. Founded in 1996, and now an independently-operating subsidiary of WellPoint, Inc., HealthCore provides the health care system, biopharmaceutical industry, academia, and the federal government with "real-world" data to improve the quality, safety, and affordability of healthcare. Description:
The Research Data Manager leads the data management activities for retrospective and prospective research projects that include, but are not limited to, development and management of data collection and abstraction processes for medical chart abstraction and survey research to collect information from physicians and patients. This individual coordinates and participates in the development and design of questionnaires used to conduct patient and physician surveys as well as case report forms (CRFs/eCRFs) used for medical chart abstraction and research data collected by investigative sites.
Responsibilities:Manage and coordinate data collection and management activities for assigned research projects (i.e., retrospective, prospective, medical chart abstraction, patient and physician surveys).Oversee and manage the data collection and data management processes for medical chart abstraction, survey, case report form, and other supplemental data collection processes. Work with project teams and/or sponsors to develop and design data collection forms (e.g.,CRFs/eCRFs, surveys, questionnaires) and standard communication documents (e.g., health plan letters, FAQs). Ensure development and design of data collections forms are in accordance with the study protocol and established standards.Monitor, revise and automate data collection forms and standard communication documents as needed to achieve robust outcomes measures. Develop standard operating procedures and monitor and conduct reviews to ensure compliance with policies, procedures, client specifications, contractual scope of work and regulatory agency guidelines. Identify and document areas for clarification and improvement, provide re-education for improvements identified.Conduct data reviews for completeness and consistency. Query data inconsistencies to sites and abstraction teams to ensure integrity and quality of research data. Assist with research database audits and provide subject matter expertise to internal and external organizations reviewing/auditing research data management. Develop and maintain relationships working collaboratively with project contacts (e.g., core project team, health plans, physicians, third party vendors, etc.) that provide research data for outcomes measurement, improvement, evidence- based care, and safety. Lead process for identifying, selecting and contracting third party service providers as needed for medical chart abstraction or survey conduct. Provide subject matter expertise and collaborate with Director, Research Data Collection. Manage, monitor and train third party vendors (e.g., chart abstractors, survey interviewers, management service organizations) and physicians, office staff and other personnel as appropriate to achieve the productivity, quality, timeline and budget requirements from study start-up through archival; provide input into process development and performance improvement based on study metrics. Provide oversight to IRB submission/approval process and ensure compliance to HIPAA privacy regulations. Create and execute Data Management Plans (edit specifications, validation, coding, etc.) for paper and web-based forms. Identify data management tasks outside the scope of contracted work, document and communicate to the Project Manager, and follow scope issues through to resolution. Ensure compliance with company's standard project management methodology, including preparation of reports and presentations, participations in project team meetings, communications, issue/risk management and status reporting.
Qualifications
Education and Experience:
  • 4-year degree (BA, BS) in Life Sciences, Epidemiology, Sociology, Nursing, Pharmacy or related field.
  • 5 years research experience with at least 3 years of experience in leading and managing data management projects. 
  • Background in chart abstraction, surveys, research data collection or Phase IV trials a significant plus
  • Background in quality oversight strongly preferred.
  • Proven project management experience is required; demonstrated ability to proactively manage project teams efficiently and successfully complete tasks following established project management methodology.
  • Experience with medical records and/or claims data is a significant plus.
  • Experience with Electronic Data Capture(EDC) systems is preferred.
  • Strong computer skills, including:  ADOBE, MS Access, MS Excel, MS Word, and MS PowerPoint.
