Job Details and Duties
Retail Sales Management
· Plan, develop and implement retail sales and market strategy and goals. Ensure that retail staff builds relationships with existing customers and constantly seek out new prospects.
· Set store and individual goals based on company objectives and communicate effectively to staff.
· Be able to hold others accountable in a constructive manner and guide staff through difficulties to achieve store goals. Maintain documented improvement plans and staff success.
· Lead regular retail meetings.
· Regular one-on-one meetings with retail staff
Retail Sales & Marketing Leadership
· Lead in the development and implementation of an overall retail sales and marketing strategy based on effective research of the community, referral sources, and innovative or new product lines.
· Shape the retail message, effectively employing advertising, websites, e-commerce, sales tools. Work with Director of Development for plans regarding marketing materials: local media advertising, sales packets, phone greeting, yellow pages, trade shows, web site.
· Create or work with others to create and implement in-store and community-wide promotions of products for retail sales
Contract Relationships
· Serve as an excellent representative of the company to referral sources, third party payers, vendors and financial institutions, all potential customers and vendors.
· In an organized manner each week have staff research and contact new potential partners for the company.
· Coordinate and present presentations to staff, managers and other third party entities or customers.
· Work with purchasing and other management to create a diverse product offering.
· Assist in organization of Scrub Shows and other off-site trade or marketing opportunities to increase reputation and visibility in the community
· Research and develop alliances or network arrangements with:
o Other Home Medical Equipment Suppliers
o Home Health Agencies
o Hospitals and Clinics
Product & Vendor Information and Research
· Work with the clinical teams to evaluate new and existing products and supplies to ensure access to the best products for our practice. Evaluate those products based upon
o Their ability to meet customer needs
o Customer convenience
o Against clinical standards of care
o Cost and profitability
o Vendor reliability and resources
· Develop technical knowledge of the retail products/services we offer and be prepared to educate team members on the features and benefits of various equipment, including appropriate safety features. Support sales and marketing effort with technical and clinical advice, research and studies.
· Maintain an updated list of retail product / vendor information.
· Research product market information and obtain competitive quotes, negotiate prices and terms and make vendor recommendations for supplies, equipment, and products.
· Interview retail vendor representatives.
Education and In-Services
· Act as a product information resource for both staff and clients. Work with other staff to develop educational materials and training for staff and referral sources.
· Assist co-workers with product education and questions they have regarding equipment
· Attend and present to educational meetings and seminars for healthcare workers, patients/clients, families, caregivers, physicians, and interested community members on areas of need.
· Participate in educational and professional programs and/or review professional literature on an ongoing basis; to maintain knowledge and competency in current and developing techniques, professional standards, and the products and serviced offered by our company
· Propose, develop and provide community presentations, workshops, and seminars for both patients and referral sources specific to pharmaceutical issues . Arrange in-services for referral sources, working with management and appropriate organizations such as MED University to offer CEUs.
· For all programs, create and maintain a database of attendees and consistently follow-up.
Organizational Management
· Lead in the daily management of your element of the organization, ensuring efficiency and effectiveness of the organization. Analyze and incorporate effective workflow and process steps and ensure consistent application of those processes.
· Ensure quality and appropriateness of services.
· Effectively and appropriately delegate to staff, utilizing their skills effectively.
· Serve as liaison between the retail team and the rest of the company, facilitating better communication between the retail team and the company.
Customer Responsiveness
· Resolve customer concerns and complaints in a constructive manner, serving as an intermediary between customer concerns and company needs.
· Assure your staff responds quickly and professionally to customer inquiries (patients and referral sources), both in the store, online or through email, and on the phone and with internal customers, within 24 hours or a mutually agreed upon time frame.
· Resolve customer concerns and complaints by identifying problems and coordinating appropriate corrective action.
o When customer problems and questions arise, be able to answer questions to the customer’s satisfaction.
o Maintain accurate and complete documentation of complaints and resolutions.
· Provide skillful handling of grieving, upset or difficult customers. Work proactively with patients/clients to solve a variety of problems..
· Maintain proper confidentiality at all times when answering inquiries.
· Excellent communication skills, verbal and written.
· Maintain a neat appearance. Wear a name badge as required or requested.
Staffing
· Ensure that all elements related to staff positions are current and up-to-date: job descriptions, scheduling, salary rates and conduct while on the job.
· Maintain a complete understanding of laws impacting the hiring and management of employees.
· Serve as primary contact when employees request vacation days, sick days and other work related requests. When appropriate, supervise daily employee scheduling.
Staffing Management
· Maintain authority to appraise, discipline or transfer (within the department) any direct reports and feel comfortable in your ability to recommend termination, increase or decrease in compensation for any staff who report to you.
· Maintain appropriate number of personnel to accomplish all department-related tasks.
· Perform effective and timely performance reviews.
· Offer effective ideas for individual staff to improve their skills and foster growth.
· Deal directly with deficiencies in performance, up to and including termination.
· Collaborate with others to maintain personnel files on each employee.
Staff Training
· Ensure that the skills of staff personnel meet the needs of the customers and that when personnel do not have the competency to perform prescribed services in an appropriate and responsible manner, appropriate training occurs.
· Collaborate with others to select and implement the training necessary:
o as an orientation for new employees;
o to develop inexperienced team members;
o to provide for in depth training in subjects and processes relevant to your department;
o to ensure critical functions through cross trained personnel;
o to educate on the laws, codes and regulations that pertain to the services and equipment provided by company such as FDA, DOT, OSHA, etc.
· Monitor the effectiveness of training through evaluations, hands-on competency testing and work performance.
· Plan, approve and provide time and resources for personnel in-service training programs.
Strategic Planning/Budget
· Clear understanding of the financial aspects of HME.
· Provide input so that valid revenue forecasts and supporting budgets can be established and maintained. Ensure that adequate planning occurs to meet the needs of and provide an appropriate response to the financial and personnel related matters of company operations.
· Manage daily operations with budgeted expenses and revenues in mind.
· Review budget to evaluate performance, making appropriate changes and correcting deficiencies. Identify cost saving measures, including facilities, delivery, personnel, etc.
· Develop and implement effective systems and reports to assess productivity, inventory levels, equipment management, and staffing levels.
Rules and Regulations
· Comply with all applicable company policies, procedures, and patient protocols.
· Comply with all current government regulations and professional standards respecting patient care, including those of accrediting organizations
· Maintain knowledge of follow all policies and procedures regarding equipment repair as outlined in FDA, OSHA, DOT, accreditation and others policies and procedures
