Do you have a real passion for and a deep understanding of the retail environment?  Are you an inspiring and experienced multi-site retail manager looking for a new challenge?  Icebreaker is an authentic, edgy and sustainable merino clothing company, and we’re looking for a store manager to manage our thriving store on the corner of 11th & Burnside and our Outlet Store in Woodburn, which we'll open early in 2010.


 


We opened our retail store in December 2007 and this store is proving to be a hit with Portland locals.  With our design team located just down the road, Portland is now truly established as a second home for this New Zealand born brand.  We also supply over 300 retailers in the USA and we’re growing quickly across all channels.

You will be responsible for supporting and developing our passionate and high performing retail team, ensuring sales targets are met through exceptional team management, outstanding customer service standards and strong sales leadership.  You will also be responsible for driving edgy and innovative sales and marketing initiatives, strong visual merchandising of product and effective stock management.


 


To be successful in this role, you will have the following skills and experience: 




  • A deep understanding of the retail environment and a proven track record in successful retail management, preferably in the fashion/apparel industry;


  • Preferably, demonstrated success in a regional management role, responsible for a number of stores, including outlet;


  • Proven success initiating and implementing sales and marketing activities, understanding what really shifts the dial;


  • Experience effectively managing inventory;


  • Outstanding customer service standards;


  • Exceptional leadership and people management skills;


  • Passionate about Icebreaker’s core values;


  • A relevant tertiary qualification;


  • Highly numerate with previous accountability over P&L;


  • Insightful, and have a high level of commercial acumen and sound judgment;


  • Have strategic vision and are able to engage, persuade and motivate others;


  • Excellent communication  skills;  


  • A great sense of humour and able to contribute to the team culture;  and


  • Flexible and able to adapt well to changing business requirements.
