Retail Store Manager

Role Statement: 
 Responsible for the overall management of retail operations at a store level, including merchandising, sales planning, and visual and internal marketing.  Collaborates with divisional leadership, clinical product line leaders, and other key stakeholders to ensure alignment between product offerings and customer needs.  Manages inventory, controls expenses and identifies opportunities for sales growth to meet operational and financial goals.  Manages all staff, paid and volunteer, by setting clear and measurable goals and expectations, completing work schedules to support store operations, and serving as first point of contact for resolving employee conflict.  Promotes exceptional customer service at all times in accordance with Virtua values and the points of the STAR.   

Job Essentials:
-  Supervises the day-to-day operations of the retail store
-    Manages inventory to provide product that is aligned with clinical product lines and on-going customer needs
-    Responsible for the fiscal management and bottom line performance of the store, maintaining accurate cash balances and appropriately managing revenue and expense budgets
-   Establishes strategies to maintain performance at or better than benchmark indicators (e.g. turn rate, average dollar per transaction, gross margin return on investment, etc.)
-   Develops specific sales and promotions to maintain customer engagement, keep product fresh and yield a financial return; pursues opportunities beyond the store level to promote sales
-  Serves as store level expert for point of sale, training staff, monitoring staff competencies and ensuring accuracy
-  Maintains inventory and current price structure within the point of sale system
-  Ensures compliance with vendor relations ¿ proper checking in of product, ensuring accurate billing, managing credits/returns, sourcing new vendors and performing appropriate background checks, maintains appropriate cost of goods sold
- Regularly conducts physical inventory to minimize shrinkage
-  Responsible for all staffing of the store; maintains a customer service team that promotes high quality customer service consistent with the Virtua experience
- Recruits, trains and orients new staff
-  Performs annual performance evaluations and exercises appropriate performance management strategies for team members who perform below standards
-  Flexes self and team to support other internal shops, if necessary
-  Mentors new retail management staff
-  Builds and maintains relationships with internal and external key stakeholders
- Demonstrates knowledge of information technology principles and utilizes available technology and reporting functions to best manage the business unit and make necessary course corrections


JOB DESCRIPTION


Educational Requirements, Qualifications: 
High school graduate, with Bachelors Degree in heath-care or business preferred.  At least 5 years experience in a retail position, of which 2 years should be in retail management.  Must have a strong retail background, familiarity of working within a healthcare setting is a plus.  Must be familiar with retail benchmarking, cost of goods management, retail buying, merchandising and sales promotion and retail operations.  Must possess basic computer proficiency (i.e. Outlook, MS Office applications).  Candidate must possess the skill of working outside of a traditional setting and the ability to transfer knowledge from one industry to another.  Requires effective use of problem solving, negotiating, conflict management, team leading and teambuilding skills.  Must be able to influence without having authority. Must possess excellent writing and presentation techniques, excellent human relations skills, including interpersonal relations, group dynamics, enthusiasm, and motivation.
