Current Need


McKesson Provider Technologies has opportunities for healthcare professionals with knowledge and work experience in Revenue Cycle -- Patient Access - Health Information Management - Case Management - Patient Financial Services. This is a direct, full time travel opportunity with no relocation required.

Patient Access experience needs to include a thorough understanding of how an efficient Front End operates, appropriate staffing requirements, and policy reforms for increased revenue. Candidates must be able to demonstrate how their ideas and procedures have resulted in increased revenue to the hospital organization. Additional qualifications include:Hands on management or Director level experience for Registration, Scheduling, Admissions and/or Patient Access area.

Expert understanding of patient flow, insurance identification, collection of co-payments, proper patient eligibility verification.

Health Information Management experience needs to include hands on management experience in Medical Records with proven ability to implement revenue cycle initiatives to increase cash collections. Candidates must have a strong understanding of efficient HIM processes and appropriate staffing requirements. Candidates must be able to demonstrate how their ideas and procedures have resulted in improvements in outstanding A/R and increased revenue. Additional qualifications include:

RHIA, RHIT and CCS certification

Charge Description Master experience

Expert understanding of Medical Records process flow including coding compliance, reduction in delinquent medical record counts, reduction in coding backlog days.

Familiar with an encoding product.

HIPAA compliance, Medical Review board for HIM policy and procedure implementation.

Patient Financial Services experience needs to include Director-level experience in a hospital business office. Candidates must have a strong understanding of insurance payer plans and tracking denials. Candidates must be able to demonstrate how their ideas and procedures have resulted in improvements in outstanding A/R and increased revenue. Additional qualifications include: Prior management (Director level preferred) of a Business Office, Revenue Cycle Project and /or Patient Accounting.

Expert understanding of Business Office process flow and efficient staffing requirements.

Minimum Requirements


- Experience with McKesson HIS systems (STAR, SERIES, HealthQuest) required

- Participate and lead Revenue Cycle consulting engagements, including reducing days in A/R, improving processes throughout the revenue cycle, increasing cash flow, case management, and discharge planning.

- Able to function as an interim Patient Access Director, HIM Director or Patient Financial Services Director.

- Able to demonstrate best practices throughout the Revenue Cycle.

- 5+ years prior Revenue Cycle experience in a hospital setting.

- Patient Access, Health Information Management or Patient Financial Services department experience, preferably at a management level.

- Prior Revenue Cycle consulting experience strongly preferred.

- Case Management experience.

- Demonstrated strong project management and planning skills/capabilities.

- Writing, analytical and presentation skills sufficient to meet demands of consulting assignments.

- Proficiency in MS Office Suite including Project, Word, Excel and Powerpoint.

4-year degree in business or computer science or related field or equivalent experience
