Job Description

Dometic LLC is seeking a Robotic Engineer to support the Cooling Unit Plant.   This position requires a broad range of knowledge with various robotic applications and industrial engineering supervising weld controls.

 

Key Responsibilities:

  • Establish facility layouts (welding area), develop methods of operation, create efficient material flow patterns, balancing work between weld cells, setting standards and support the maintenance and operation of the welding area.
  • Develop, implement and maintain welding robotic programs, and work with the tooling engineer in developing appropriate jig and fixtures.
  • Complete all project management assignments (from design concept to implementation).
  • Work with manufacturing engineers, supervisors, quality engineers and production floor employees in translating various programs and initiatives into a production process that meets factory goals for safety, cost, quality and productivity.
  • Write weld procedures, process plans, evaluate methods, evaluate cost and establish/document weld sequences.
  • Liaison between the Shop Floor and Design Engineering.
  • Responsible for ensuring all AWS/ASME codes are met.
  • Working with the tooling group to develop solid welding fixtures/jigs.
  • Develop new welding techniques and procedures, troubleshoot weld issues, and assist with qualifying new welders.

 

Education and Experience:

  • Bachelors Degree in Robotics or Welding Engineering is required (similar disciplines considered based on experience)
  • 5 to 7 years experience combining robotic programming and weld engineering support role in high volume manufacturing environment
  • Working knowledge of metallurgical composition
  • Knowledge of Kuka and Motoman robots preferred
  • Welding certification or similar formalized training
  • Initially, willing to travel internationally requiring ability to obtain a passport

 

 Knowledge and Experience:

 

  • Good communication skills and the ability to work effectively with all personnel in a team environment.
  • Experience with MIG welding applied via vaiours robotic cells.
  • Mechanical aptitude in working with weld tooling.
  • Ability to read blue prints and understand Metric as well as English measurment units.
  • Demonstrate the ability to be an effective member of a multi-disciplined, cross functional team.
  • Project management skills; demonstrated execution skills (i.e. start up of a welding cell).
  • Analytical skills in determining welding related cycle times and costs.
  • Demonstration of an understanding of Quality Planning and Problem Solving.
  • Self-starter with the ability to execute a variety of tasks with little supervision.
  • Hands on skill in programming robots.
  • Robotic welding/programming experience.
  • Tooling/fixture creation experience.
  • Knowledge of Geometrical Dimensioning and Tolerance.
  • Continuous Improvement, Lean and 5S involvement.
  • Knowledge of capital budgeting and capital equipment selection/justification
