EXPERIENCE COMMERCIALIZING ITALIAN SPECIALTY FOOD PRODUCTS IS A DEFINITE PLUS (PASTA, TOMATO SAUCES, PASTA SAUCES, OLIVE OIL, RIZZOTTO, GRAINS, SEMOLINA, FLOUR, ETC.)

REGIONAL SALES BACKGROUND AND FOCUS IN THE NORTHEASTERN U.S. TERRITORY.  (NEW YORK, NEW JERSEY, CONNECTICUT, NEW HAMPSHIRE, MAINE, MASSACHUSETTS, RHODE ISLAND, VERMONT, PENSYLVANIA)

HIGH LEVEL OF INTERACTION WITH BROKERS, DISTRIBUTORS, NATIONAL GROCERY CHAINS, AND OTHER RETAIL SALES CHANNELS.

HOME/OFFICE BASED POSITION.  NO RELOCATION REQUIRED.

RESPONSIBILITIES  

  • Participate in the preparation and implementation of the Region’s Annual Business Plan
  • Responsible for managing all distributor and retailer accounts in the territory
  • Develop Commercial Plans with distributors and clients located within the territory
  • Negotiate and agree with distributors the implementation of commercial initiatives that will achieve the targeted sales and distribution objectives
  • Set budgets and targets and brief distributors in strategies to be applied.
  • Review the actual distributor network and suggest changes / alternatives as required.
  • Analyze market trends, advising upper management of noteworthy changes
  • In conjunction with Senior Commercial Management, plan, organize, implement and control promotional and trade marketing initiatives for the company’s product lines with the distributor network.
  • Propose the development, adaptation and/or changes to the company’s current product line
  • Responsible for the Marketing and Trade Budget of the assigned territory.
  • Plan in conjunction with the distributors their scheduled purchases based on projected requirements and the commercial plan.
  • Control and verify distributor inventories
  • Order confirmation, follow up, problem resolution
  • Follow-up on client accounts
  • Stay abreast of the competition
  • Follow-up and analyze projected monthly forecasted sales and volumes, issuing the corresponding reports
  • Perform market research in order to detect opportunities, improve market share, market penetration, etc
  • Manage all client relationships and continuously grow the region to its fullest potential
  • Contribute to the Brand development with Marketing Plan and Trade Actions
  • Regular distributor/client visitations involving 50%+ travel within the territory
REQUIREMENTS
  • Undergraduate Degree in Business Administration, Marketing, Commerce, Accounting, Economics, or International Trade
  • 5+ years of sales / business development experience in the food products / consumer goods industry with client concentration in the Northeastern (NE) United States Region  
  • Knowledge and experience in retail sales of italian pasta specialty food products, including inside and outside sales.
  • Knowledge of retailing techniques, merchandising and displays.
  • Understanding of sales channels and trade marketing. 
  • Experience preparing business plans for consumer goods a definite plus.
  • Experience negotiating with distributors of consumer goods preferred.
  • Leadership skills, sense of urgency, creativity, energy and enthusiasm
  • History of high activity of calls and client visitations, with diligent follow up.
  • High achiever, self driven, high energy, dynamic.
  • Must close directly and with confidence.
  • Must show depth in conversation and display sincere thought, concern, and listening abilities.
  • Track record of rising above peers, with history of promotion and recognition
  • Stable employment record.
  • Professional appearance and demeanor, driven personality, independent thinker, strong motivator
  • Availability to travel within the region (50%+) as required to support sales objectives.
  • Excellent communication and interactive skills in English language
  • Foreign language (bilingual or multilingual) skills a definite plus – Spanish, Portuguese, Italian, French,  etc
