The SAP BW Developer (Backend) primary responsibilities will be to develop, create, monitor, and schedule (where appropriate) the necessary BW objects (e.g. InfoObjects, ODS, InfoCubes, InfoPackages, InfoSources, Datasources, Extractors, Transfer Rules, Update Rules) in a BW 7.x environment. Must have experience with SAP BW Dashboards.  This position is responsible for working with analysts and business users to translate functional specifications into technical specifications ensuring a comprehensive design, then configuring and coding, testing (including documentation of the results) and on-going customer support of the solutions. The position requires strong written and verbal communication skills and an ability to work closely with functional analysts, BW team members, basis and the business.  As a key member of a small team, the developer will have the opportunity to learn many aspects of the business as well as the SAP data warehousing systems.

 

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS

           Bachelors Degree in computer science or business related major is a plus

           SAP technical certifications a plus

           3-5 years experience with SAP ABAP Development (must include BW Development)

           Experience with BW 7.x and 3.x environments

           Experience with SAP ECC

           Experience with BW BPS is a plus

           Developed and supported reporting in the Sales and Marketing areas

 

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Experience designing, developing and configuring within SAP BW (7.x and 3.x), expertise should include: InfoObjects, ODS, InfoCubes, InfoPackages, InfoSources, Datasources, Extractor, Transfer Rules. 
  • In depth of experience in BW BEx/Analyzer & Web Application Designer design and development 
  • Knowledge of standard BW content and how to activate and implement 
  • Knowledge of BW Administrator Workbench 
  • ABAP coding and debugging skills, code performance tuning, and general trouble shooting skills in a BW environment
  • Microsoft Excel Programming and VBA, HTML and JavaScript, SQL, is a plus
  • Key competency in troubleshooting production issues and extraction and transformation loads 
  • Works well business and functional analysts to understand and design accurate and stable technical solutions 
  • Interprets business and reporting requirements and design and can convert them into technical design (including detailed documentation) 
  • Able to translate and document new requirements and changed requests into BI development and configuration tasks 
  • Strong analytical, problem solving and multi-tasking skills required, as well as communication and interpersonal skills 
  • Recognizes impacts of changes and ensures appropriate due diligence performed before making changes and is thorough in testing solutions before implementing to avoid rework 
  • A team player with excellent verbal and written communication skills, able to communicate clearly, ability to work both independently and as part of a team, and take direct requests from business and IT \
  • Completes assigned tasks in an accurate and timely manner with minimum direction 
  • Demonstrates a sound knowledge and application of IT change, release, problem, incident and continuity  management processes 
  • Has an understanding and recognizes the importance of the software development lifecycle processes and typical problems associated with the implementation of information systems, from initial concept through development and implementation to operation and support 
  • Demonstrates strong knowledge and application of testing strategies, methodologies 
  • Ability to handle multiple projects simultaneously, with attention to detail and closure
  • Good organizational skills, detailed oriented 
  • Must be committed to provide a high level of customer service 
  • Demonstrates the highest standards of professional behavior in dealing with clients, colleagues and staff
