Summary of Position:
The Massachusetts Veterans Epidemiology Research and Information Center [MAVERIC] is an epidemiology research group engaged in pharmacoepidemiology, chronic disease epidemiology and genetic epidemiology research at the Boston VA medical center. We are currently looking to hire SAS programmers to work on several new and continuing research projects.
The SAS Programmer/Analyst will be responsible for constructing, cleaning, modifying, and analyzing data from the VA health care system, primarily using SAS. S/he will work in conjunction with and in support of biostatisticians, epidemiologists and clinicians in the numerous epidemiologic research projects conducted at MAVERIC. Depending on the nature of the project, s/he may work with a project team that includes many levels of staff, or may work independently with the investigator.
Salary range from $61,000 - $79,000
Requirements:
Education/Experience:
· Master’s degree, preferably in public health, statistics, biostatistics or epidemiology, with at least one year of SAS programming experience
· Bachelors degree, preferably in statistics or computer science, with at least three years of SAS programming experience
Preferred Skills/Qualifications:
· Working knowledge of statistics, experience with data management, and solid SAS programming skills.
· Experience with other statistical analysis and graphics packages and PC software
· Facile with Microsoft Office, particularly Word, Excel and Powerpoint
· Ability to program on a UNIX platform
· Ability to program in SQL or other high-level languages is beneficial
· Knowledge of study design, research methodology, statistical analysis, and data management
· Excellent interpersonal, oral, and written communication skills
· Must be a US Citizen
