Information Technology Services (ITS) is NYU's central organization for technology-based services for University faculty, students, staff, and administrators. ITS provides computer, network, telephony and Internet services to the entire University. ITS comprises the Office of the Chief Information Technology Officer and several service departments working together in support of the broad spectrum of University activities.
ITS at New York University is seeking Senior Systems Database Administrator to provide database support for client server and mainframe environments. In this role, he/she will assist the developers in design, coding and testing; monitor and optimize system performance; design, configure, and implement database systems by gathering and analyzing information; and document and present results, for supporting University applications.
To qualify, you must have a Bachelor’s degree and 5 years’ relevant experience as an Oracle database administrator in a client server environment and web environments, or an equivalent combination. The ability to implement and support web services and proficiency in PL/SQL is required. Knowledge of UNIX and shell scripts, web architecture and infrastructure, web programming languages and of sql server a must. Excellent analytical, problem solving and communication skills also required. The ideal candidate will be proficient in Oracle Database Administrator role, skills & tools; possess knowledge of Data Warehouse technologies and techniques and data marts, star schemas and other Business Intelligence tools & techniques; and has the ability to install, maintain & upgrade the Software/Applications. Project Management skills a plus.
