SUMMARY:

Provides contracted instructional services with the necessary educational expertise in reading, mathematics, writing, and related areas; diagnoses learning skill deficits and delivers prescribed instructional delivery methods as determined by Student's IEPs; consults with school personnel to coordinate efforts in providing services to students; communicates and conferences with parents providing information on student progress and maintain accurate records.

Teachers can be part time or full time status and are paid as hourly employees.

 

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following.  Other duties may be assigned.

*        Attends training sessions, administer assessment, and delivers designated instructional strategies for addressing IEP goals in reading, mathematics, and/or writing skills to eligible students with special needs.

*        Identifies and enrolls eligible students through existing test scores, administering tests, and/or other acceptable methods as required by Catapult, local, state, and/or federal agencies.

*        Develops and maintains individualized skill-appropriate lesson plans and progress reports.

*        Ensures supervision of students at all times, including escorting students safely to and from Catapult classroom or to mobile/trailer classroom.

*        Establishes and maintains student forms, progress reports and files as required by Catapult, local, state, and/or federal agencies.

*        Establishes and maintains a positive customer relationship with classroom teachers and principals, including providing achievement objectives and updated approved schedules of services.

*        Attends and documents conferences/meetings/trainings with Catapult Supervisors, classroom teachers, principals, and parents as required by Catapult, local, state, and/or federal agencies.

*        Maintains inventory of educational materials and supplies.

*        Maintain accurate data regarding student progress on monthly basis.

*        Maintain accurate attendance data daily.

 

EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE:

Requires a bachelor's degree, NYS Certificate, Students with Disabilities Certificate (k-2, 1-6, 5-9, 9-12, k-12) Reading/Literacy Certificate (1-6 or 6-12) Teaching experience preferred.

OTHER JOB REQUIREMENTS:
Must understand that all children can learn. Must demonstrate positive and enthusiastic attitude towards internal and external customers. Must be flexible. Working knowledge of Microsoft Office preferred.

 

PHYSICAL ENVIRONMENT/WORKING CONDITIONS:

Light lifting, walking, climbing stairs. Most programs are in school settings.

Currently, we have full and part-time positions (PT teachers: 10hrs-20hrs a week and FT teachers: 30hrs a week) needed for the upcoming school year starting September.  Responsibilities include providing small group instruction (SETSS) in reading, math, writing, and related areas to special ed students in parochial/religious schools in Queens and BrooklynThe teacher diagnoses learning skill deficits and delivers prescribed instructional delivery methods as determined by Student's IEPs.

During school and/or after school hours. Hourly compensation.
