Description

This position will be responsible for the planning and development of Surface Mount Placement Machine programs to control the placement of electronic components.

  • Analyze drawings, sketches, and design data of circuit board assemblies to optimum method of component placement utilizing sophisticated surface mount placement machines.
  • Determine correct programming methodology for achieving maximum surface mount productivity on PCB assemblies.
  • Compute placement times and program efficiencies and utilize data to ensure maximum throughput and factory schedule balance.
  • Assist with machine programming problems and improvements on the production line.
  • Develop quality checks for programs written and implement those checks on an ongoing basis.
  • Work with customers and engineering staff to introduce new models or products into the factory with the highest quality and productivity levels.
  • Revise programs to eliminate errors or omissions.
  • Observe operation of machine on trial runs and during daily operation to prove or improve programmed instructions.

 

 



Required Skills

  • Knowledge of surface mount machine programming including common loading, machine balancing, reduction of movement and other techniques for improving productivity.
  • Mechanical aptitude with understanding of geometric tolerancing and measurement techniques such as the use of calipers, depth gauges etc.
  • Understanding of computer hardware and software.  Microsoft Office experience including the use of Excel is essential.
  • Ability to solve moderately complex math problems and performance capacity analyses on surface mount equipment.
  • Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals.  Ability to compute rate, ratio, and percent and to draw and interpret bar graphs.  Knowledge of basic statistics.
  • Ability to perform quality checks on machine programs.
  • Understanding of the engineering change control process.
  • Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals.  Ability to write routine reports and correspondence.  Ability to speak effectively before groups of customers or employees of organization.
  • Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists. Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.


Required Experience

  • Associate's degree (A. A.) or equivalent from two-year college or technical school.
  • Six months to one year related experience programming auto placement equipment in a high volume manufacturing environment.
