SOFTWARE ENGINEER - Windows CE New Haven County, CT

About the Job

Enjoy being the "go to" person?  Reporting directly to the General Manager, you will be the sole engineer in house, leading development of their new generation of products.  This privately held manufacturer of commercial electronic products is the world leader in their market.  Your role is to develop and coordinate new products and enhancements to maintain their edge over the competition.  Sales here tend to increase during recessions.  They sell to a wide range of industries and organizations through 45 captive distributors marketing worldwide in fifteen languages.   All microcontroller-based systems are customized to the client’s requirements.   You will function as a Project Engineer, joining and coordinating long-term consultants who know all aspects of the existing product line.  There will be some architectural level design using Windows CE (some of the prototypes have been done in VB.NET. ) Some of the sections will include GUIs, touchscreens, data handling, RS232, USB, and Ethernet communications, communicating with SQL Server, XML-based, and Access databases.  There would also be presentations to management.  It is conceivable that in the future, this person could become Manager of Engineering.  Management here has realistic expectations; the deadline for the first phase of the first product is set for the Third Quarter of 2010.  There are a series of product development efforts planned after this.  They offer a nice facility in a non-union environment located in an accessible, suburban location.   The salary ranges from $75,000 to $85,000—possibly $90,000.  Sorry, local Connecticut candidates only on this--There are no relocation expenses budgeted for this permanent opening.
Requires a BSEE/BSCS degree or equivalent, five or more years of embedded software development experience with exposure to RS232, Ethernet, and USB communications.  Thorough knowledge of  Windows CE is absolutely necessary, as well as permanent U.S. residency, and experience taking a product through the entire lifecycle.  Small company experience is quite valuable.  Please contact Kent Kirkland, C.P.C. at KirklandSEARCH, kirkland@connix.com , (203) 729-7000 for more information.
