United Cerebral Palsy Association of Nassau County, Inc. (UCPN) is an independent, not-for-profit agency serving over 1800 children and adults with cerebral palsy, developmental and other disabilities. We are currently looking for individuals to join our staff at our Children’s Learning Center.  Exceptional opportunity to join a nationally recognized center and work with children in a  school setting  Children’s Learning Center (CLC) offers full-day, center-based educational services to children from the ages of 18 months to 21 years. Approximately 250 children receive such services from a committed, highly qualified faculty of 200 multi-disciplinary staff, including special education teachers, clinicians, and paraprofessionals.

The ideal candidate must have the following: Master’s Degree in Speech/Language Pathology; NYS License as a Speech/Language Pathologist (or CFY); Certificate of Clinical Competence from the American Speech-Language and Hearing Association (or CFY); and NYS Initial/Permanent Certification as Teacher of Students with Speech and Language Disabilities (TSSLD)/Teacher of the Speech/Hearing Handicapped (TSHH) Bilingual Extension. Experience with oral-motor therapy, dysphagia and augmentative/alternative communication preferred.

The professional we seek will be responsible for the following:
•    Provide recommended clinical services to students as assigned, with a caseload consisting of up to 45 slots at 30 minutes (41 slots CFY).
•    Provide diagnostic evaluations and re-evaluations as scheduled or assigned.
•    Attend weekly team meetings and CPSE/CSE and IFSP meetings, if warranted.
•    Make appropriate referrals to other departments or services when indicated.
•    Act as a resource to students/families and team members by encouraging their participation in the therapeutic process through shared decision-making and training (e.g.: safe feeding, AAC), including periodic co-treatment, if appropriate
•    Maintain accurate, complete student records, and prepare required reports and other documents within appropriate time frames.
•    Participate in CLC/agency committees and opportunities for professional growth, i.e.: mandatory agency/CLC trainings and in-services.
•    Train school personnel in therapeutic carry-over activities and safety practices related to the therapeutic process.
•    Perform all other duties as may be assigned by the Executive Director or his/her designee.

The ability to transport students in their wheelchairs, school chairs, walkers, standers, etc. from the classroom to a therapeutic environment and vice versa is also required.  You will aide in the transfer of students from various equipment  as needed.
