Currently, we are looking for a SQL Server DBA for a contract to hire position in the Baltimore, MD area.
SQL Server DBA
Duties and Responsibilities
· Responsible for ensuring availability and performance of the databases that supporting multiple critical applications
· Work to ensure that the associated hardware resources allocated to the databases and to ensure high resilience and performance tuning.
· To proactively monitor the database systems to ensure secure services with minimum downtime
· Responsible for providing trend analysis to management team to enable them to make informed decisions regarding resource management and availability of the systems
· Responsible for troubleshooting and problem solving of SQL Server databases on Wintel platforms
· Responsible for improvement and maintenance of the databases to include rollout and upgrades.
· Responsible for implementation and release of database changes to support the application development teams in both the lower tiers and production environments
· Able to work independently and collaboratively across multiple teams (development, administrators, support center, etc)
Skills / Attributes Required
· In depth SQL Server Database Administration experience is a must
· Experience of managing multiple MS SQL 2000 and 2005 databases for large systems
· Strong self-sufficiency and initiative working on Database projects
· Practical experience in monitoring and tuning a database to provide high availability
· Experience of Transactional SQL, and DTS stored procedures and clustering is a plus.
· Practical experience in managing the internal and external MS SQL database security
