Enterprise SQL Server DBA

Reports to:  Director, IT Operations

Position Description:

The Enterprise SQL Server DBA is expected to integrate their function with the Application Development Team, Infrastructure Operations Team, Business Managers and Data Analysts. The responsibilities include designing, modeling, implementing, optimizing, managing and administering the Enterprise level data warehouses, databases and database systems.  In addition this person will be responsible for documenting and tracking the progress of all projects, enhancements and issues through to resolution and/or implementation.  The ideal candidate should be comfortable working on all levels.  The candidate should also be capable of accomplishing company goals by accepting ownership for varying requests and exploring new opportunities to add value to the enterprise.

 

Responsibilities:

·   Working with IT Operations team on infrastructure optimization and management

·   Writing Transact-SQL statements, Stored Procedures and Views using industry best practices for security and efficiency

·   Managing Indexes - Indexing database to ensure required indexes are present on all objects

·   Code review and making sure code comply with current company standards

·   Replication oversight and designing disaster recovery strategies

·   Creation and Testing of Scripts and Execution Plans

·   Lifecycle management and cleaning data

·   Database and Code management and documentation

·   Working with application developers to know how front end application work and testing results

·   Capable of following established change control and version control processes and procedures

·   Reviewing SQL Server database objects

·   Performance optimization, capacity planning and managing database growth

·   Data Integration using Business Objects Data Integrator or other enterprise ETL tools

 

Qualifications:

·   Bachelor’s degree or equivalent certifications preferred

·   5 years experience designing, implementing, administering and maintaining Microsoft SQL Server production databases, specifically SQL 2005, 2000, Enterprise, Standard, Clustered and non-Clustered

·   Experienced in best practices for design, development, modeling and implementation of data warehouses and relational databases

·   Business Intelligence skills including experience with or knowledge of Business Objects Enterprise

·   Experience with Embarcadero ER/Studio data modeling tools

·   Understanding and some knowledge of Microsoft SQL Server 2008

·   Oracle Database knowledge helpful

·   MCDBA Certified preferred
