Responsibilities

The Staff Accountant is aware of departmental strategy and has broad responsibilities that include general ledger maintenance, account analysis, reconciliations, and report preparations. The Staff Accountant will provide a high level of both internal and external customer satisfaction.

1. Strategy: Be aware of the strategy of the department

2. Talent: Learning and Development
a. Prepare and discuss IDP with Manager or Assistant Controller
b. Participate in internal/external training opportunities

3. Customer Satisfaction:
a. Provide a high level of internal/external customer service.
b. Learn the Erickson values

4. Management:
a. Understand job tasks assigned
b. Communicate with supervisor

5. Specific Tasks:
a. Maintain the General Ledger (dollars and statistics) for assigned lines of business and communities.
b. Prepare journal entries and maintain monthly accounting records.
c. Reconcile assigned bank and balance sheet accounts.
d. Resolve outstanding items on account reconciliations in conjunction with other departments as necessary.
e. Prepare and post adjustments in the General Ledger.
f. Prepare or assist in the preparation of assigned month-end financial reports, including reviewing reports for unusual trends, comparing current month results to prior month and investigating trends.
g. Prepare or assist in the preparation of assigned schedules for the month-end community Financial Packages.
h. Prepare assigned bank wire transfers.
i. Assist in the annual audit, including preparation of audit shell for an assigned community.
j. Provide supporting documentation for the preparation of the communities tax returns and regulatory filings.
k. Seek and identify more efficient accounting procedures within the department. Assist in the development of new procedures and controls.
l. Develop strong relationships and interact with personnel in the communities to insure that their accounting needs are met.
m. Perform special projects as required.
n. Other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

QUALIFICATIONS

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE
Bachelors degree in Accounting, Business Administration or a related discipline. 2 + years experience in the field or a related area. Working knowledge of Microsoft Office Products (Word, Excel, and Outlook) required. Prior experience with JD Edwards is a plus, but not required.
