Responsible for the planning, design and production of bridge construction bid documents, and must have expert knowledge of and experience with AASHTO, AREA, ASTM, ACI, PCI, AWS and other pertinent bridge design specifications.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  Plan, direct and perform calculations and analysis using engineering formulas for designing bridge and transportation structures

  Layout of bridge geometry
  
  
• 
  
  Develop concepts and design of structural details for bridge projects
  
  
• 
  
  Set-up construction drawings for finishing by CADD Technicians
  
  
• 
  
  Review shop drawing submittals
  
  
• 
  
  Research and report on findings for design code issues
  
  
• 
  
  Research design options and document findings for other Project Engineers
  
  
• 
  
  Organize and maintain project files
  
  
• 
  
  Quantity take-off for bridge project engineer’s estimate
  
  
• 
  
  Assure that drawings and designs are in accordance with company production and design standards, follow Quality Assurance and Control procedures
  
  
• 
  
  Use structural analysis software for bridge structure design
  
  
• 
  
  Other assignments as needed

QUALIFICATIONS

Requires BSCE degree (MSCE preferred) and P.E. license with at least 12 years design experience.  Must have strong technical experience in the design and construction of bridges.  Proficiency in associated design packages for structural engineering applications is essential.
