The Student Services Center seeks an individual with excellent interpersonal and customer service skills who can work effectively in a team environment to fill its available Student Services Representative position. The purpose of the Student Services Representative position is to serve as the initial contact for the Financial Aid, Registration, Billing, and Advising office for walk-in, telephone contact or by email. The position will provide professional, courteous and accurate information to students, their families, and other guests to the student services desk.
The Student Services Representative is responsible for:
- Interpreting university policy to students and parents regarding: academic eligibility, fiscal policy, payment options and deadlines, financial policy and application procedures, registration, career services, and academic support services;
- Utilizing university information systems (SIS and others) to access student record information, make updates, evaluate and resolve student problems regarding financial aid, billing, registration;
- Making appropriate referrals to specialists within the Center and elsewhere on campus by utilizing good listening and assessment skills to determine student needs and training about campus resources and individual specialists to match students in correct appointments;
- Handling cash and other forms of payment following university cash management protocols;
- Attending monthly meetings as a liaison for different departments and reporting back to the staff any information that is vital;
- Identifying, in collaboration with co-student service desk team members, frequently asked questions and concerns of students, parents and other campus clients and bringing these issues to the attention of the manager with suggestions as appropriate for improving processes; ensuring accuracy of information provided to students;
- Participating in Tufts University functions and representing Tufts University in off-campus functions;
- Other projects as assigned.

Basic Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree
- Minimum of one (1) year of related experience
- Proficiency with Microsoft Word and Excel; experience with databases

Preferred Qualifications:Experience in a higher education setting a plus. More than one year experience preferred.
Special Work Schedule Requirements: Some overtime required during peak times including weekends and evenings.
