The Safety Site Lead will work at the Utah's Test and Training Range (UTTR) at Dugway proving grounds where the JLENS systems will be integrated and where the Safety Lead will oversee the day-to-day safe operation of the sites. The Site Safety Lead will be the primary interface to the UTTR range safety office and customer safety personnel on site.
It will be the Site Safety Lead's responsibilities to:
* Develop Site Safety Plan
* Conduct Safety Analyses and document results
* Develop Safety Requirements
* Support Configuration Review Boards
* Document hazards and maintain a Hazard Tracking System
* Participate in System Safety Working Groups and Technical Interchange Meetings
* Prepare and give presentations for Safety Board Reviews
* Document and report residual risk to Risk Acceptance Authority
* Travel associated with supporting customer meetings and formal program reviews
* Enforce program safety requirements at all times
Required Skills: Specialized professional experience and skills in applying scientific and engineering principles, criteria and, techniques to identify and eliminate hazards, in order to reduce associated risk.
* Experience with a wide application of technical theories and concepts related to system safety engineering and combat/weapon systems design.
* Experience with program and project tasks.
* Secret Security Clearance.
Required Education (including Major): B.S. / B.A. in Engineering, Science, or Mathematics.

Mandatory physical requirements :
* Ability to climb platforms
* Ability to lift and carry 40 lbs.
* Ability to work in varying weather extremes
Desired Experience, Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
* Prior field experience including experience as a System Safety Engineer on a major weapon/combat system development program.
* Operational experience with U.S. Army, Navy, Marine Corps, or Air Force combat/weapon systems and Ordnance.
* Experience conducting and documenting safety analysis .
* Demonstrated functional knowledge of MIL-HDBK-454, MIL-STD-1427, MIL-STD-1474,
* Demonstrated ability to work within a matrix organization and effectively communicate with internal and external customers.
* Demonstrated ability to work with limited supervision on a large-scale combat/weapon systems development program.
* Ability to apply logic and common sense to overcome obstacles and adhere to schedules
* Experience working on a major military range complex
