We are currently seeking a Safety Manager to plan, implement, and coordinate safety programs, requiring application of safety principles, job safety analysis, task-based evaluations, and technology, to prevent or correct unsafe environmental working conditions, claim management, medical surveillance and training.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

• Work with all areas in the facility to ensure safe working conditions and interact with team members and management to continually reinforce safe work practices, pointing out both the issues and encouraging positive behavior. Promote good safety culture.


• Conduct plant audits monthly and transfer stations quarterly, or as directed. Performs comprehensive hazard analysis and provides training and/or reinforcement of sit-specific health and safety policies and procedures.


• Ensure all safety plans and programs are implemented, reviewed and updated according to changes in regulations or process/policy/equipment.


• Maintain all medical surveillance requirements for all employees.


• Ensure compliance with all DOT Federal Motor Carrier Safety and Hazmat regulations.


• Ensure that all new employees are properly trained working with the management and ensure that all annual training is conducted appropriately and effectively.


• Facilitate and ensure that all safety committee meetings are held monthly at all plants and quarterly at all designated transfer stations. Ensure compliance with all state mandated safety committee meeting requirements.


• Alert management/environmental manager of any regulatory compliance observations. Notify Director of all regulatory inspections, follow up documentation and all notices of violation.


• Manage and maintain all accident and injury claims files. Manages the coordination and processing of all claims, legal issues, and related matters.

Education and Experience:

• Education equivalent to Bachelor’s Degree in Safety Sciences, or other related field, or the equivalent in related work experience demonstrating the ability to manage incident investigations, industrial hygiene monitoring, and transitional duty/medical management programs.


• One or more years of experience in environmental health & safety, or the equivalent in related work experience, demonstrating experience in aggressive worker’s compensation claims management.


• Demonstrates working knowledge of all state and federal OSHA regulatory requirements.


• Must possess and maintain the following: Certified Safety Professional, Industrial Hygiene, OSHA 30-hour course.
