Safety Manager
The Compliance Coordinator will administer the plant safety programs and will be responsible for developing, implementing and overseeing policies, procedures, and work practices that eliminate or control workplace hazardous conditions which may lead to injury or property damage.
Specific responsibilities include but are not limited to:
- Conduct location safety audits to ensure safe working conditions and compliance with OSHA and other applicable regulations
- Conducts safety orientations for all new hires
- Trains supervisors and hourly employees on facility safety programs such as lockout/tagout, confined space entry, emergency evacuations, and ensures records of such programs are properly completed and retained.
- Maintains current knowledge of applicable safety standards and regulations through review of trade publications, attending industry seminars and review of new regulations and statues
- Develops and maintain the facility's process safety management (PSM) programs.
- Investigates accidents and files first report of injury and incident report. Maintains locations OSHA records.
- Oversees location safety committee and achievement of the committees goals
- Perform safety hazard analysis during the design/engineering phase of projects.
- Build a partnership with the Corporate Safety department to acquire the required support to effectively pursue safety performance goals.
- Develop, distribute, update and provide training for new safety programs.
- Instigate corrective actions following citations or safety incidents.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's or Associate's degree or equivalent experience in Occupational Safety and Health or related field
- At least 5 years industry experience, preferably in a production setting
- Knowledge of OSHA and industry safety regulations, solvent extraction
- Strong skills in the training and development of employees
- Ability to investigate and make sounds decisions with information available
