BASIC FUNCTION:
The Safety Manager will conduct regular assessments to evaluate and improve the overall safety procedures and practices on all Power Design Jobs. The Safety Manager will help ensure that all safe work procedures and conditions are in accordance with company safety policies/procedures, applicable regulatory state and federal laws, and OSHA standards.

POSITION OBJECTIVES:




  • Enforce a high standard of safety practices on all projects.


  • Ensure company polices and training programs are properly aligned with industry regulatory standards.


  • Identify areas in which efficiency, effectiveness and preventative measures may be improved.


  • Properly represent Power Design on all related safety matters.

 


 


SPECIFIC RESPONSIBILITIES INCLUDE BUT NOT LIMITED TO:



  • Work closely with site management on all safety planning and issues such as Fall Protection, Fire Protection, Electrical Safety, Cranes and Rigging, and Hazard Communication

  • Identify correctives actions needed to bring any project jobsites into compliance with polices and standards

  • Conduct thorough jobsite inspections on equipment, safety gear and devices, and overall site conditions.

  • Travel weekly to jobsites currently across 14 states

  • Identify and document causes of accidents and hazards; develop recommendations for improved preventive measures and/or polices and procedures to address specific safety issues

  • Conduct safety meetings and basic training orientation for employees; provide ongoing consultation on preventative safety practices

  • Attend customer meetings, safety hearings as a representative of Power Design

  • Provide neat and concise evaluation reports for all inspections and safety violation incidences


  • Meet with Executive Management to communicate evaluation results and action plan for improvement.

 


QUALIFICATIONS:




  • Must have either 5-10 years construction experience; or 3-5 yrs experience in construction with a Bachelor’s degree in a construction related field


  • Solid knowledge of OSHA standards and other safety related regulations


  • Ability to travel approximately 75% of time


  • Strong communication skills – written and verbal, and follow through skills


  • Proficient in Microsoft Office, specifically Excel, Outlook and Word


  • Ability to work independently.
