Safety Program Manager

About the Job


Smith Equipment Rental and Services, an established, growing, oil and gas field services company, is looking for an experienced Safety Program Manager.  The primary function of this position is planning, establishing, implementing, and maintaining a variety of occupational health, safety, environmental programs to assure the highest possible degree of safety for employees.

RESPONSIBILITIES




  • Assure that the Company complies with applicable federal and state health, safety and environmental laws, regulations, and standards.

  • Administers health, safety and environmental (HSE) strategy, systems, policies, and methods; makes recommendations for improvement.
  • Prepares, maintains, and implements HSE procedures and manuals as required.
  • Develop and implement accident and loss prevention programs.
  • Interacts with supervisors and workers in order to identify and correct unsafe conditions or work practices.
  • Maintains up to date knowledge of current and pending regulations and statutes related to HSE affairs.
  • Identify and evaluate hazardous conditions and practices in the workplace.
  • Conduct and coordinate on-site inspections to audit physical conditions and safe work practices and develop implementation and close-out plans for identified hazards.
  • Measure and evaluate the effectiveness of the hazard control system, policies, and procedures and recommend changes that reflect improved opportunities to eliminate work place accidents and injuries.
  • Compile, analyze, interpret and report accident, loss, and exposure statistical data.
  • Develop platform safety standards and standardized training for numerous site locations.
  • Conduct monthly Safety Meetings and provide specialized safety and environmental training programs to communicate general safety information and hazard control information.
  • Manage the details of the training program, ensuring that programs support annual HSE objectives, and all statutory and customer requirements.
  • Participate in new employee health and safety and environmental orientation.
  • Perform other related duties as directed that correspond to the overall function of this position.

 


QUALIFICATIONS



  • Bachelors Degree in Safety, Health, Business Administration or a related field is preferred.   
  • Minimum 5 to 10 years experience in a leadership role as a safety professional, preferably in the oil and gas industry. 
  • Knowledgeable about OSHA, worker’s compensation, DOT regulations and other employee related safety and compliance regulations. 
  • Excellent oral, written and presentation skills. 
  • Commitment to safety, demonstrated through job history and results. 
  • Strong, hands on leader and motivator capable of dealing with all levels of employees and site personnel. 
  • Technical computer knowledge, including Microsoft Office applications.
