Sales Engineer - IT Networking

We are an established, growing company in the information technology industry currently seeking a motivated and experienced sales executive to manage the operations of our sales team. 

 

Our company delivers a wide range of professional IT services (project and contract based) and network technologies (data/voice/video) to a growing base of customers in the SMB and public sector markets. The Position

Our Sales Engineer plays a critical role in building and sustaining customer and partner relationships while driving the adoption of our solutions. The SE works closely with our Sales Team to maximize opportunities by identifying, developing, accelerating and closing deals from a technical perspective. The SE is a high-impact, visible role, responsible for ensuring customer satisfaction while promoting adoption of our solutions and driving further development and evolution of these solutions to meet future customer needs. The SE must be technical, customer-focused and team-oriented and have a documented path of previous contribution to a growing, successful business environment.

 

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Participates in sales calls and meetings with customers and prospective customers; works to drive revenue and maintain high levels of customer satisfaction.
  • Articulates company’s unique value proposition and builds value throughout the sales process.
  • Discovers and understands key customer technical, financial, operational, and business issues.
  • Provides technical expertise and engineering information regarding products and services, answering questions and fulfilling requests.
  • Evaluates customer requests and develops complementary solutions utilizing products and technologies which the company represents to fulfill customer requirements.
  • Assists in preparing cost estimates by studying blueprints, plans, and related customer documents; determines the feasibility of improvements by analyzing cost-benefit ratios of equipment, supplies, or service applications in customer environment.
  • Engineers and proposes changes in equipment, processes, or use of materials or services.
  • Assists the sales and engineering departments in managing product evaluations at client locations.
  • Delivers detailed product demonstrations in-house or at the customer’s location.
  • Contributes to sales process improvement, including developing knowledge bases and creating sales tools.
  • Provides technical information and training to clients relating to use, operation, and maintenance of equipment.
  • Prepares sales engineering reports by collecting, analyzing, and summarizing sales information along with engineering and application trends.
  • Maintains high levels of professional and technical knowledge by attending educational and other professional events, maintaining required training and certifications, reviewing current industry Builds long-term business relationships and becomes a trusted advisor within accounts.

 

Key Qualifications

Candidates must possess required technical and sales consulting skills, client-focused approach, commitment to detail, quality-oriented attitude and must be assertive as well as intrinsically driven to analyze and solve client requirements. Position requirements include:

 

  • A proven track record in a B2B sales environment.
  • 3-5 years min. experience in information technology products and data networking.
  • Prior experience selling, installing and architecting network hardware, software and operating system solutions.
  • Ability to present, demonstrate and explain technical solutions to both technical and non-technical buyers.
  • Excellent analytical and problem solving skills.
  • Knowledge of current and emerging technology in the following areas: Intel-based servers and desktops, storage and back-up solutions.
  • Knowledge of Microsoft network operating systems and desktop systems, network operating system provisioning and maintenance.
  • Knowledge of network appliances such as LAN switching, WAN and Internet routers as well as firewalls and other security devices.
  • Strong relationship building skills.
  • Demonstrated ability to successfully work in a team to meet goals and business objectives.
  • Proven time management skills in a dynamic sales environment.
  • Strong organizational and project management skills.
  • Detail and quality oriented.
