About the Job


The Milwaukee Journal Sentinel is seeking a dynamic and creative Recruitment Advertising Manager to supervise and motivate a team of direct multi-media sales reps. We are looking for a strong sales manager able to positively impact revenue goal achievement and work closely with sales reps to develop actionable sales plans and grow new customer accounts. You will be involved in all aspects of sales development --responsible for field sales activities, the ongoing coaching and talent development of sales reps, building advertiser relationships, and most importantly growing our online local advertising business.


 











 


RESPONSIBILITIES:


 


 The successful Sales Manager will be a hands-on "player-coach" –able to quickly jumpstart new sales efforts and grow existing account bases. This is a field manager role requiring 70% of the time spent out in the market working with reps to assist in the closing of sales, and teaching of "in-field" best practices. Monitoring sales volume, call activity, closing ratios, and other key sales performance indicators is essential to succeeding in this role. This individual will also be responsible for launching new product solutions and working closely with our Vendor Partner Monster.com. This will include working through the implementation process and training both the direct sales reps and an inside sales force on the new products.


 


QUALIFICATIONS:


 


 Bachelor’s degree in Business/Marketing, Communications or equivalent years experience. Two to three years of successful sales management experience, preferable in the interactive or advertising sales arena. Internet selling experience preferred. Strong field management experience with demonstrable successes for coaching/mentoring sales reps and assessing sales talent.


Prior experience with sales forecasting and achieving set revenue and new product sales goals. Must have excellent written and verbal communication skills. Strong interpersonal skills –a proven track record of building strong customer relationships and personal sales achievement. Rock-solid organization and time management skills.
