Position Description

Sales & Marketing Manager

STIHL Inc. has an immediate opening for a Sales and Marketing Manager!  As part of our STIHL Northwest Distribution Branch, you will play a vital role in working with customers and end-users to increase the sales of STIHL products.  STIHL produces outdoor power equipment including chain saws, blowers and trimmers, which are sold throughout the world at independently owned dealerships.  Are you interested in learning more?    


 


Position Responsibilities:


·         Directs staffing, training, expenditures and performance of Territory Managers to ensure maximized sales potential in each territory.  Provides guidance to Territory Managers regarding sales techniques or administrative tools to improve sales results.


·         Coordinates sales distribution by establishing sales territories, quotas, and goals, and advising dealers and clients concerning sales and advertising techniques. 


·         Analyzes sales statistics to formulate policy and to assist dealers in promoting sales.  Visits dealers to further develop dealer relationship and to market any upcoming promotions or targeted items.


·         Participates in overall branch management by providing counsel and input to Branch Manager.  Recommends overall sales strategies and develops plans to implement strategies.


·         Plans and coordinates sales meetings.  Assists with planning and coordination of dealer incentive trip or other promotions.


·         Plans and oversees the advertising and promotion activities of STIHL Northwest, including print, electronic, and direct mails outlets, using internal personnel and external agencies. 


·         Evaluates market reactions to advertising programs.  Uses available market research in evaluation and planning process; may conduct market research when appropriate or necessary.  Reviews market analyses to determine customer needs, volume potential, price schedules, and discount rates, and develops sales campaigns to accommodate goals of STIHL.


·         Regularly monitors and analyzes department progress versus plan and budget, industry development and company communications.


 


Requirements:


·         Bachelors Degree in Business, Communications, Marketing or other related discipline.


·         Five years related experience in Sales Management through dealers.


·         Ten years of related sales experience.


·         Related experience with marketing and advertising preferred, but not required.


·         Experience with Outdoor Power Equipment Industry preferred, but not required.


·         Must have a proven track record of strong interpersonal and leadership skills.


·         Must have excellent planning, organizational and project management skills.


·         Ability to travel a minimum of 2 nights per week by road and/or air.
