Koch Equipment LLC, located in Kansas City, Missouri, is a leading manufacturer and distributor of food processing and packaging equipment. We are currently looking to fill the position of a Sales Representative for our industrial food processing product line.
Position Summary
Sell business to business industrial processing equipment primarily in the meat industry.
Minimum Experience
· A minimum of five years experience proactively selling industrial food processing equipment.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
· Sell to customers primarily over the telephone from incoming calls generated from Koch Equipment Catalog as well as trade shows, the Internet, referrals, and trade publications.
· Excellent follow-up skills required due to a multi-step process and often long sales cycle.
· Make regularly scheduled proactive calls to targeted customers, track, and measure these calls through the sales process.
· Use current software package (CRM) to plan the workload, create, and track customer opportunities. These opportunities are then moved through the sales pipeline until the order is booked and the opportunity is closed. All customer contact should be noted in this software also.
· Achieve budgeted sales, margins, and net profit goals of the business unit.
· Seek out new products and evaluate the value and ROI of the products in the marketplace. Coordinate new products in the supply chain and work with the marketing department to rollout new products in the marketplace.
· Train, coach and develop other sales staff to generate cross selling opportunities in both processing equipment and consumables.
· Plan, order, maintain, and evaluate product inventory while considering capital expense.
· Support Outside Sales efforts.
Additional Duties and Responsibilities
· 15% travel required which may fluctuate each year according to trade shows, training visits, and customer visits and installations.
· This position will require the understanding of various pieces of processing or packaging equipment and the complete understanding of their operation and how they impact the business of our customers.
· This position will be measured the following way: opportunity management, phone usage, bookings, and billing generated.
· Observe all safety and security procedures for your area. Use equipment and materials properly and report potentially unsafe conditions to management. Your personal safety actions will be accountable in your performance review.
· Review trade publications to keep abreast of the marketplace, technological developments, competitor offerings, and to garner customer leads.
· Seek out new suppliers to maintain competitive and cost advantage.
· Other duties as assigned.
Supervisory Responsibilities
· This position has no supervisory responsibility.
Requirements
· Bachelor's degree from four-year college or university (preferred); or five years related experience; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
· Intermediate knowledge of Microsoft Office Word, Excel, and Outlook.
· Possess, or obtain, a valid passport.
Physical Demands
· Required to sit, talk, listen and frequently use hands to finger, handle, type, and feel.
· Required to occasionally stand and travel both domestically and abroad to visit work and customer sites.
· Be able to occasionally lift and/or move up to 25 pounds.
· Specific vision abilities required include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and the ability to adjust focus.
