Essential Job Functions
- CSC's Science, Engineering and Mission Support group is seeking an entry level Environmental Scientist/Biologist Professional to conduct literature searches, review and summarize scientific articles, develop and update EPA policy and guidance documents, coordinate external review of work products, coordinate web-site updates, assist in analysis of data gaps, provide outreach and implementation support, and research, compile, and manage data on contaminants, analytical methods, laboratories, drinking water utilities, etc. The ideal candidate for this position would possess a Bachelor's degree in microbiology, biology, or related field preferred, zero or more years experience in environmental or homeland security-related microbiology or related field preferred, excellent writing and oral communication skills, laboratory experience in classical microbiology from an environmental perspective, quick to learn new skill sets and are you able to happily re-prioritize your projects at the drop of a hat, detail-oriented with a positive, determined, solution-oriented attitude, and would embrace a team work environment but also have the ability to work independently.
- Assists in the analyses of engineering software and applied computational models to determine effectiveness of product design.
- Uses established processes to address and eliminate basic failure modes and deficiencies to enhance product capabilities.
- Assists the research and development area in researching new product development, technology innovations and product enhancement methodologies.
- Assists in providing patent information to protect intellectual property and to create first-to-market opportunities.
Qualification
Basic Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree or equivalent combination of education and experience
- Bachelor's degree in engineering, mathematics, computer science, chemistry, physics, biology or related field preferred
- Zero or more years of experience in application and/or engineering technology development
- Experience working with relevant scientific development and engineering principles and practices
- Experience working with company products and offerings
- Experience working with the technology industry
- Experience working with mathematical, physical, chemical, biological or aerodynamic principles
