Role summary:

Incumbent will be responsible for testing samples for early stage (Phase I) clinical studies as a member of the Clinical Immune Monitoring Group. Incumbent will also be responsible for the development and qualification of novel cellular assays in support of various Pfizer vaccine programs. The role is focused on ELISPOT assays but also includes performance of other cell-based assays (flow cytometry) on clinical samples. The candidate will also be responsible for maintenance and upkeep of equipment required for these assays. This role requires an in-depth technical knowledge of cellular assays especially ELISPOT assays (T and B cell ELISPOT) and development and qualification of ELISPOT assays. Experience with clinical ELISPOT testing is required. The role requires good analytical skills, attention to detail and the ability to clearly document and present complex biological data. Incumbent is required to multitask and work as part of a team that is required to meet business-critical deadlines. In addition, the candidate will be responsible for ELISPOT training and support of other scientists in Clinical Immune Monitoring Group.

Role responsibilities:

  • Conduct clinical ELISPOT assays in accordance with GCLP requirements.
  • Conduct clinical flow cytometry assays in accordance with GCLP requirements.
  • Analyze, document and report experimental data in accordance with Pfizer/GCLP requirements.
  • Support the efficient and compliant operation of the laboratory by developing appropriate processes and standard operating procedures, working with others to operate the laboratory, and by becoming an expert user in key areas of operation (such as LIMS and GDMS).
  • Lead the development of cell based clinical assays in accordance with GCLP requirements.
  • Act as the technical lead for ELISPOT assays.
  • Interpret data and draw final conclusions regarding progress and results of work. Present progress to senior management and project leadership. Write reports for internal communications as well as complete scientific papers for peered review journals. Required to present original research at internal seminars and external scientific meetings.
  • Exhibits exceptional professional maturity as exemplified by promoting interaction within and outside of group and a proven ability to train scientific staff in laboratory techniques.
