Security Specialist
(This position is not IT/IS, military, police, or guard service related - main focus is securing government classified facilities and documents.)
Must be a U. S. Citizen
Reports to: Security Manager
Clearance: At Start, Must have an active Secret Clearance or held one in the last 24 months
Administers and coordinates the DoD, DoE or other industrial security program and other security activities to ensure compliance with government and company security policies and procedures that are non-IT related. Typical security related issues may include physical access to buildings, room, couriers, clearances, packages, documentation and debriefings. Develops and implements security procedures in coordination with government agencies and management personnel. Conducts security briefings. Participates in the development of and conducts security education programs. Investigates losses and security violations and recommends corrective actions. Maintains liaison with outside agencies. Develops and implements procedures and coordinates procedure manual revisions. Is required to respond to company needs on a 24-7 basis for systems, alarms, or other security needs. Excludes those responsible for plant security and protection.
Alternate COMSEC Custodian. The purpose of an Alternate COMSEC Custodian is to assist the COMSEC Custodian and provide continuity of operations in the custodian’s absence. The Alternate COMSEC Custodian is responsible for: continuity of duties during the temporary absence of the COMSEC Custodian; keeping aware of the day-to-day activity of the COMSEC account; the duties of the COMSEC Custodian, whenever necessary, without undue interruption of operations. Ensuring that semiannual/annual (as appropriate) inventories are signed by the Alternate COMSEC Custodian and by a properly cleared witness. In the event of the sudden, permanent departure or unauthorized absence of the COMSEC Custodian, performing those duties until the appointment of a new COMSEC Custodian.
Qualification Requirements:
Education:
Bachelors Degree or equivalent experience; additional courses in government security preferred.
Experience:
2 years experience in a DoD, DoE or other industrial security program.
Skills:
In-depth knowledge of the DoD, DoE or other government security regulatory manual.
Good communication skills
Essential Duties & Responsibilities include, but are not limited to the following: Performs compliant inspections reviews and self inspections Acts as liason with departments and agencies Conducts administration inquries Identifies deficiencies and notifies for corrective action May be required to respond to company needs on a 24-7 basis for systems, alarms, or other security needs Other duties as assigned
