Job Responsibilities
- Responsible for developing and implementing sales/business with large commercial and industrial clients. This is an outside sales position in which contacts will be made from an office environment and prospective meetings will be facilitated primarily at the location of the prospective client
- Reporting to the Director, Commodity Marketing, the Senior Account Executive will drive all prospecting activities and lead generation initiatives in the process of developing new customers
- Build strong relationships with new customers while determining supply requirements and objectives
- Manage the negotiation of contract terms and conditions
- Responsible for the maintenance of ongoing customer relationships and subsequent contract renewals on an ongoing basis
- Responsible for managing internal processes and ensuring compliance to all company policies and procedures
- Achieve annual sales quota and associated monthly sales activity goals
- Develop new "target accounts" within our indigenous areas of operation, and within the specified natural gas market segment/ geographic territory
- Document progress and build database through account acquisition and account management strategies
- Exhibit a positive professional demeanor when representing company at selected trade, industry and association functions
- Exhibit strong organizational skills with attention to detail
- Exhibit an intuitive understanding of the sales cycle and an intuitive grasp of the "courting process"
- Demonstrate creativity beyond the phone call by developing communication strategies intended to keep the company name fresh in the consciousness of the account target
Educational Requirements
- Bachelor’s Degree from a four-year college or university
Job Requirements
- The successful candidate will have a thorough understanding of commodity supply products and a demonstrated track record of success in sales
- A minimum of 5 years outside sales experience selling to senior-level decision makers and a minimum of 3 years in deregulated energy sales is required
- Proven track record of driving results through the development, maintenance, and continued nurturing of large-scale customer accounts
- Must have comprehensive experience sales planning, budgeting, and forecasting – i.e., sales pipeline management – with a demonstrated ability to produce results in line with that forecast
- Strong presentation and closing skills required
- Strong phone skills are required; in particular, the ability to self-motivate by making a high volume of meaningful contacts on a week in, week out basis
- Strong writing skills required
- Fundamental comfort level working in a Microsoft Office 2007 environment, with a particularly heightened skill set in MS PowerPoint, Excel, and Access
- Working understanding of salesforce.com and other value-added sales tools
- Detail orientation and the ability to keep a clean and thorough database of customers and contacts
- Up to 50% travel within our areas of operation (currently Colorado, Wyoming, Nebraska, and Arkansas)
