SUMMARY OF PURPOSE:


The Senior Accountant supports the Controller and the Accounting Department in the following areas:  Accounts Payable, General Ledger Accounting, Budgeting and Forecasting, Financial Reporting and Analysis.  This position also acts as a contact for other departments requiring financial information to be used for budgeting and analysis.  The Senior Accountant will also assist as needed with the implementation of the new Accounts Receivable and Member Management systems by ensuring that accounting processes and procedures are appropriately designed and implemented. 


 


PHYSICAL/MENTAL REQUIREMENTS:



  1. Uses personal computer approximately 5-6 hours per day.
  2. Uses telephone and email to communicate with members and ACFE co-workers, approximately one to two hours per day.
  3. Sits approximately 5-6 hours per day.

 


ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:


1.      Process invoices, identifies cost savings, corresponds with vendors, resolves discrepancies, and maintains vendor files.


2.      Performs General Ledger Accounting by assisting with journal entries, allocations, and accruals.


3.      Assists Controller with month-end close process and preparation of monthly financial statements.


4.      Assists in the design and preparations of budget for review by management as well as assists with budgeting and forecasting through analysis and auditing of expenses.


5.      Provides other departments with financial reports and explanations of budgeted numbers in comparison with actual costs.


6.      Assists with daily reconciliation of batches to ensure appropriate G/L coding


7.      Performs other duties as requested or required.


 


POSITION REQUIREMENTS:


1.      Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or related field required.


2.      3-5 years of accounting, finance or related experience required.


3.      Licensed CPA or CPA candidate preferred.


4.      Knowledge of current accounting and auditing rules and standards.


5.      Proven skills in organizing work, attending to detail, taking direction, managing time effectively, and handling multiple tasks in a timely manner.


6.      Strong communication skills.


7.      Skills in collaborating with staff across departments.


8.      Strong decision-making and problem-solving skills.


9.      Proficiency in Microsoft Office, including Word, Access, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook; working knowledge of MS Great Plains and database SQL queries.
