Senior Accountant

About the Job

This position will support the Balance Sheet Center of Excellence (CoE) team whose responsibilities include balance sheet reconciliation metrics and reporting, Balance Sheet Globalization Program (BSGP) governance, internal/external audit requirements, Cadency SOX application support, deployment planning and execution, system configuration and change management control activities. In addition, this position will support various initiatives and work closely with the entire BSGP organization to ensure operational consistency and stabilization.

  • Perform daily activities surrounding team’s assigned areas of responsibility
  • Participate in the completion of the team’s R2R Governance deliverables
  • Play key role in centralization planning and execution; support globalization activities and controls to maximize alignment across Pfizer
  • Perform first level reviews of various GFS and global balance sheet reconciliation status and quality metrics, complex data analysis, and ad-hoc reports
  • Perform first level review of monthly 3-way tie out between ERP systems, Reconciliation systems, and the Financial Consolidations System and coordinate escalation of issues, as needed
  • Support continuous improvement and incremental globalization activities and controls, maximizing alignment across Pfizer, particularly with the implementation of Controls Optimization and Robotic Process Automation (RPA) initiatives
  • Monitor ERP (SAP & E1) extract process with Cadency, the global reconciliation support tool, including coordination with Business Technology (BT) when variant updates and extract testing is necessary, primarily GAAP accounting but also supporting Statutory accounting
  • Assist Balance Sheet CoE colleagues with resolution of escalated and complex issues
  • Prepare and distribute Trial Balance Certification deliverables
  • Support Financial Analytics Solution (FAS) rollout/feedback loop and assist with development and enhancements for version 2
  • Support Cadency environment upgrade testing when in scope and liaison with Cadency’s vendor, Trintech, as needed
  • Support execution of the Auto-Certification Review processes
  • Prepare and update selected financial and accounting analysis, work instructions, SOPs, etc.
  • Support alignment of BSGP operations with various initiatives such as SAP go-lives, LEA, Pfizer acquisitions and/or divestures, Finance Assessment, etc. by establishing network of contacts
  • Assist in providing key support for internal and external related audit activities, including the timely and accurate delivery of audit requests
  • Create and/or update presentation materials and present to a wide variety of audiences
  • Support team in preparation and delivery of critical analysis to various stakeholders, owning all required support including the resolution and remediation of open questions and concerns; engage directly with customers and business partners on activities and deliverables
  • Willingness to accept occasional travel for meetings and project

Education and Experience

  • Bachelor Degree in Accounting or Finance required
  • Master’s degree preferred
  • CPA required
  • 5+ years of relevant functional account or finance experience as required for specific role
  • Public accounting experience preferred

Technical Skills Requirements

  • Demonstrated advanced technical US GAAP and financial reporting knowledge and experience
  • Advanced Excel skills
  • Identify issues proactively and communicate to manager along with potential range of solutions
  • Engage directly with customers and business partners on routine activities and deliverables; begin to develop relationships
  • Maintain complete and accurate tasks list and status of open items
  • Consistently meet deadlines with little to no assistance
  • Lead the implementation of continuous improvement projects
  • Proficiency in PC skills (MS Excel, Word, Power Point) required
  • Demonstrate an intermediate understanding of SAP/ERP systems
  • Strong analytical and critical thinking skills
  • Excellent oral, written and overall communication skills enabling effective communication with all levels of management
  • Ability to work independently, manage multiple and shifting priorities and solve problems in an unstructured environment
  • Ability to identify and communicate issues and continuous improvement opportunities, lead the development of range of potential solutions, and be proactive in determining impact of proposed resolution
  • Ability to informally develop and influence staff accountants through coaching/mentoring
  • Demonstrated ownership of personal and professional development
