Senior Associate - FS IT Operations (Accounting/Product Control)
Do you have a passion for solving complex business problems? KPMG’s Advisory Services Practice focuses on fundamental business issues — managing risk, increasing revenues, controlling costs — that organizations, across various industries, should address in order to help them flourish. We help companies to identify and manage risks inherent in business processes and technology systems that support business objectives, and provide them with the information needed to help them meet their strategic and financial goals. Services are specialized to help clients mitigate risks across an overall risk spectrum. We are currently seeking a Senior Associate (FS IT Operations – Accounting/Product Knowledge) in the IT Advisory practice to join us in our NYC office focused on the Financial Services industry.
IT Project Advisory services can help organizations identify and mitigate the risk of IT project failure and monitor important project milestones. KPMG's project management professionals focus on enhancing the processes surrounding project and program management offices and evaluating project deliverables. Services encompass a full range of project governance and advisory services over the full project lifecycle, from business case through to execution and close out.
Responsibilities:
• Assist financial services industry clients in assessing operational risks associated with executing, reporting, and transactional activity
• Active participation in the development of business specifications for product and industry topics listed above
• Assist clients in the system implementation for systems in areas such as Partnership Accounting, Fund Accounting, Compliance and Risk Management
• Develop and execute test plans for comprehensive pre and post-implementation testing
• Data mining and analysis
• Serve as a liaison between clients and upper management
• Identify and communicate technical matters to both clients and upper management
Qualifications:
• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Business, Computer Science, or a related field from an accredited college/university
• Three years experience in financial services products, processes and technology
• Strong background working in and around back office/middle office/technology/projects functions as a business or technical analyst with firm understanding of front to back trade flows, leading vendor systems and/or industry protocols
• Experience in Portfolio Accounting systems such as Advent Geneva is a plus
• Experience in Compliance and Risk systems is a plus (such as Charles River, Murex, and Risk Metrics)
• Excellent communication and analytical skills
• Demonstrated issue resolution skills, strong sense of urgency and ability to be successful even when surrounded by conflict.
• Knowledge of financial systems
