Senior Chief HVAC Electrical Engineer - Critical Facilities

Description:
The Chief HVAC Electrical Engineer must ensure the highest level of professionalism, while meeting the clients needs, and a commitment to achieving the goal of 100% uptime within a Tier 3 or greater critical facility.



Responsible for the operational management and effective daily leadership and administration of the engineering team with the objectives of safely, efficiently, and effectively operating, maintaining, and modifying facility systems and equipment in a cost-effective manner.



Responsible for protecting and improving the value of the clients assets and ensuring that building engineering systems continue to perform their intended function. The Chief Engineer candidates must be knowledgeable and proficient in HVAC equipment and controls, as well as electrical systems.



Oversee the maintenance and continuous operation of all building systems including: fire/life safety, mechanical (HVAC, plumbing, controls) electrical (lighting, UPS, PDU, generators, switchgear), cabling (data and voice, broad band), lighting and temperature controls systems, critical environments, light construction (painting, doors, relites, locks), digital systems (fire alarm, duress, card access, radionics, CCTV), and Audio/Visual services. Utilize staff and contracting with outside vendors as necessary.



Develops, reviews, and approves Maintenance Critical Environment Work Authorizations (CEWAs) for assigned facilities and systems. Reviews and concurs with Construction CEWAs for assigned systems.

Supervise and manage engineers and maintenance staff including hiring, training and personal development .



Identify the maintenance objectives of the facility and incorporate those objectives into a documented plan that includes preventive, predictive and reactive maintenance procedures.



Identify safety hazards within the building and incorporate the remediation of such hazards to ensure that the buildings staff and occupants work in a safe environment. Implement, administer, and manage safety training program.



Ensure that compliance of all regulatory laws and guidelines are met as they relate to the operation of the buildings infrastructure. Responsible for alerting management of building discrepancies.



Assist in the development of a Capital plan which would include planning for infrastructure upgrades, equipment replacements and building modifications to ensure the buildings future capabilities are maintained.



Maintain all infrastructure and compliance documentation for the building including up-to-date building drawings and single-lines as well as documentation mandated for the purpose of maintaining regulatory compliance with Federal, State or Local law.



Responsible for advance training and notification to all contractors so that they are informed and knowledgeable with respects to the buildings critical functions and the work they are to perform, including an incident contact response list.



Ensure strict adherence to our clients Critical Awareness Process, Technical Bulletins, established engineering guidelines, processes, and procedures.

Qualifications:
High School diploma or GED equivalent with two years of trade schooling in electrical system design, refrigeration and/or HVAC.



10+ years experience in data center operations, maintenance, and engineering supporting Tier 3 or greater critical facilities operations. (i.e. computer rooms, hospitals)



5+ years of experience in a management/leadership role



Strong working technical knowledge and understanding of critical data center systems, including HVAC, Standby emergency power, uninterruptible power supplies, and associated infrastructure



Ability to solve problems and deal with a variety of options in varying situations.



Ability to effectively respond to sensitive issues, complex inquiries or complaints from clients, coworkers, supervisor, and/or management.



Applicable license /permit for trade as required (e.g. Journeyman or Master/Electrician, City/State License.)



Proficient in basic computer applications and software such as MS Office.



Experience with CMMS and BAS preferred



Strong understanding, commitment, and proven implementation experience in OSHA safety programs and processes.



Prior experience in development of critical environment programs and procedures.



Operating Engineers license (SMA) or equivalent preferred
