Job Responsibilities:

This position is responsible for the editorial development and implementation of National Grid’s marketing materials to customers in US covering four states: RI, NH, MA and NY.  These communications are a critical component of the company’s marketing and sales goals, overall brand strategy and customer satisfaction initiatives. For many customers these communications are the only interaction they have with the company. The position requires an understanding of the various customer audiences and the ability to write effective retail-oriented copy.

 

Under the guidance of the Manager, Brand & Customer Communications, this position is responsible for research, writing and editing content regarding National Grid’s programs and services for customers. This position will also work with departments across the company to develop customer communications to support strategic, customer objectives, marketing and sales goals, regulatory requirements and ensure that outreach & education initiatives meet expectations and coordinate the monthly planning and distribution of all bill inserts and customer newsletters. In addition, this position is responsible for monitoring other utility and industry best practices to develop leading edge communications for customers.

 

Communications will be implemented through a variety of outreach vehicles to deliver information including, but not limited to, web pages, bill inserts, bill messages, newsletters, brochures, letters and advertising. Responsibilities include:

 

- Be responsible for the writing and editing of marketing/sales copy and customer communications collateral that gets customers attention and drives them to act on a specific call to action.

 

- Help increase customer satisfaction through the development and implementation of attention getting, simple, clear, and informative customer communications. 

 

- Understand customer demographics and unique regional issues to develop successful customer communications.   Recommend new communications vehicles as appropriate.

 

- Work with team members across customer & markets organization to implement a marketing communications process which facilitates the efficient development and execution of brand and customer communications.

 

Job Qualifications:

- Bachelor’s Degree in communications/journalism/marketing required.

 

- Sales and/or marketing copywriting experience preferred.

 

- Ability to manage multiple projects including development, planning and scheduling.

 

- Strong retail-oriented writing skills required.

 

- Strong communications skills required.

 

- Work effectively with others as part of a collaborative group.

 

- Strong conflict resolution skills.

 

- Knowledge of state regulatory requirements preferred.
