Our client, a large investor owned regional electric utility located in the Southwestern Region of the U.S. is seeking a Senior Communications Engineer for their Communications Department. Incumbent will report to the Manager of Communications and provide all engineering required for the operation, maintenance, and expansion of the Company's communication network which includes sonet, microwave, two-way radio, SCADA, and telephone. Will develop the communication network for the Company's high voltage system to include engineering, design, generation of work orders, and purchase of equipment. Will serve as technical support for, and coordinate the work schedules of, the Communication Technicians in the installation and maintenance of communication equipment. Plans and coordinates future engineering projects for the communication system network in order to assure that the system continues to meet the expanding requirements of the Company. Maintains all databases pertaining to the communication systems of the Company. Excellent communication skills both verbal and written and ability to effectively interface with a variety of both internal and external representatives. Requires a B.S. in Electrical Engineering and five (5) years experience in communication engineering, three of which will be in the electric utility industry. Proven ability in the engineering design of communication systems. Ability to effectively handle multiple tasks simultaneously is essential for success.
