The Sr. Consultant is expected to develop strong business relationships with customers, typically at a managerial level, understanding and analyzing their requirements and in response providing professional advice and ongoing support to meet their business requirements. The Sr. Consultant provides in-depth specialist knowledge, detailed strategic analysis and maintains ongoing commercial relationships between PAREXEL and its key suppliers and service providers. The Sr. Consultant will also play a leading role in supplier management, working closely with suppliers to develop business relationships that help facilitate a more streamlined approach to sourcing while ensuring through negotiation that price competitiveness and high levels of service are maintained.

Key Accountabilities:

Polices and Procedures:

  • Adheres to all corporate standards, strategies, policies, and procedures
  • Ensures that orders are processed in compliance with all standards and procedures
  • Provides guidance and assistance on all Procurement related policies and procedures to Virtual Procurement Team situated in non hub countries
  • Assists in the development and implementation of local and corporate procurement standards and strategies, policies and procedures

Communication:
  • Provides professional assistance to internal customers in relation to more specialized and higher cost projects and requirements, advising on corporate procedures and compliance issues
  • Provide internal communication to procurement organization on industry trends and data
  • Principle source for key supplier communication

Customer Service:
  • Maintains a high level relationship with key internal customers, analyses and understands their requirements and provides ongoing support and advice
  • Assists customers with budget and project planning
  • Provides detailed analysis for customer requirements
  • Leverages resources throughout the organization to implement new ideas
  • Coordinates procurement resources for project related customer requirements.

Supplier Management:
Sourcing:
  • As required, initiates and manages formal RFQ/ RFP/ process
  • Maintains industry knowledge for assigned commodities to address the strategic direction of the business
  • Maintains return on investment (ROI) and total cost of ownership (TCO) models
  • Reviews the supplier qualification information provided and recommends supplier status
  • Ensures requisitions are dealt with in the most efficient manner possible

Contract Development:
  • Negotiates terms and conditions with key suppliers and service providers to ensure optimum price competitiveness and service levels are maintained
  • In conjunction with Legal, manages tactical and strategic contracts
  • Provides quarterly reporting on contractual related matters
  • In association with general supplier management responsibilities regularly and proactively reviews terms to ensure optimum benefits are secured

Contract management:
  • Develops existing supplier relationships and reviews alternate sources, ensuring continuity of supply, consistency of quality, and competitive pricing
  • Manages the contract review process, particularly in relation to more complex contracts, reviewing terms and conditions in collaboration with Legal, the business and as appropriate, Procurement management.
  • Provides assistance to Consultant on contract matters
  • Monitors supplier performance and adherence to contract terms
  • Provides analysis for the qualification of suppliers
  • Participate or lead periodic business reviews and manage actions, issues, etc.
  • Ensures all relevant documentation is provided for ongoing assessment and data analysis
  • Communicate supplier issues and actions to Consultant for ongoing coordinated approach

Training
  • Participates in the organization of training for the operations/ projects staff on Procurement-related issues

Technology
  • Possesses an in depth knowledge of all Procurement systems and when required, provides user training.

Reporting
  • Provides management, statistical, general and financial information
  • Provides regular status reports and metrics on procurement related activities
  • Coordinates and analyses minority supplier related expenditure


Education:
  • High School diploma with technical training; college degree

Minimum Work Experience Requirements:
  • Extensive experience working in the field of procurement; exposure to global operations and/or professional services or life sciences is a plus;
  • 5+ years business experience preferred.

  • Strong knowledge of procurement principles and processes
  • Excellent analytical, problem solving and presentation skills.
  • Ability to multi-task with high amounts of data.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Strong negotiation skills with the ability to effect strategic direction.
