The Global Financial Systems team is responsible for building the software systems required to accurately account for and provide process management tools for all of the financially relevant business events that occur continuously throughout Amazon.com's worldwide operations.

We are looking for an outstanding and visionary data engineer who will help us design and build the next generation reporting and analytics platform. The ideal candidate will be passionate about data; you’ll be obsessive about getting the data absolutely correct; you’ll be excited by working with data at scale, and you’ll have a proven record of delivering highly performance and maintainable data structures for OLTP and analytic systems. You’ll have ability to make sense of complex data relationships and model data structures for performance and reporting requirements; you’ll be constantly looking for ways to improve our data and to use the data to drive business value. You’ll be intensely customer focused: you understand your customers’ challenges and are constantly looking for ways to solve them. You have great communication skills, and enjoy working in a fast-paced, collaborative team environment.

Your education and experience include:

• BS degree or higher in Computer Science or related field or MIS

• 5+ years of relevant experience working with OLTP or analytic data sets

• Expertise in OLTP and analytic data modeling

• Advanced SQL skills; experience with Oracle, MySQL; familiarity with ETL tools and processes; knowledge of BI applications such as OBIEE

• 3+ years of development experience working with C++ and/or Java
