Summary:
A Database Administrator will provide direction and expertise to the IS organization regarding architecture, design and support of Oracle database technologies and related data warehouse and development tools to ensure quality of service for Base Camp, Distribution Centers and Stores.
Responsibilies:
Create and maintain databases required for development, testing and production usages. Continual assessment of database performance and identification and tuning of problem areas.Install new versions of the database platforms and the tools or products necessary to support them.Provide leadership to the team to plan and implement backup and recovery plans for the database environments.Control and perform database code changes through the development lifecycle for all application code changes.Provide leadership to implement security policies for database environments. Create and enforce standards to ensure that all application design and code is produced with proper integrity, security and performance considerations. Monitor new versions of database applications and make recommendations on upgrades. Provide leadership for database upgrade planning and implementation to ensure successful upgrades. Provide technical expertise and support to application development team. Troubleshoot problems related to database, application and development tools. Maintain user accounts within all database instances in the corporation. Support, maintain, and monitor Oracle application servers including patching and upgrades. Act as a primary contact for vendor support of non Oracle databases. Work with the team to provide Level 2 technical support for the Company.Complete other duties as assignedQualifications:
BA/BS in Computer Science or related field with 5+ years of experience in Oracle Database Administration field in a Unix (preferably AIX) environment.Experience with Oracle Retail (Retek) and Oracle 10g database experience is a plus.At least 1 year of experience with some combination of the following: Oracle POS, Oracle Financials, Manufacturing Applications, Oracle Forms, Oracle Reports, Oracle Application Server, or other Oracle related tools or applications.Other applications experience could include: Java/Web Development, Data Warehousing, OBIEE, Netezza, PL/SQL, Grid Control, RAC, and High Availability.General understanding of infrastructure technologies. Strong analytical and planning skills. Ability to work efficiently, independently, and serve as an active team member. Ability to grasp and understand new concepts, ideas and technologies. Strong written and oral communication skills. Retail experience preferred.
