Guitar Center Corporate is seeking a senior level MS SQL Server Database Administrator with a minimum of 5 years professional experience. 

General Duties and Responsibilities

·         Responsible for ensuring database availability and recoverability.

·         Database performance tuning including the ability to interact with systems administrators for the identification of hardware or operating system configurations which may impact performance.

·         Interact with developmental staff for assisting in application performance tuning.  This includes SQL statement tuning and assisting with code reviews and recommendations as necessary.

·         Implementation of proactive monitoring solutions to ensure minimal downtime and maximum performance.

·         Troubleshooting and problem solving for systems in a wide diversity of implementations.  Ability to research and generate root cause analysis documents.

·         Database upgrade, migrations and patching.

·         Responsible for resource capacity planning and providing trend analysis to management team to enable them to make informed decisions regarding resource management and availability of the systems.

·         Ability to architect, implement and support a wide variety of highly available configurations including clustering, log shipping and mirroring.

·         Responsible for proactive recommendations for the improvement and maintenance of all systems.

Specific Job Requirements

·         This position will be responsible in playing a proactive role in project implementations insuring appropriate architectures are deployed.

·         This position is for a DBA with a background in development having transitioned into an administrative role with a strong disposition towards architectures.

·         A focus of this position will include a high level of interaction with project implementation and development teams to insure strongly tuned application deployments.

·         A strong ability to interact as a member of a team, provide mentoring as necessary and communicate effectively.

Beneficial Skill Sets

·         Applicable formal education and certifications.

·         Proficiency in scripting in both Windows and Unix/Linux environments.

·         Experience with Oracle, MySQL or Netezza.

·         Experience implementing MS SQL databases in a virtualized environment.

·         Experience with governance compliance for SOX and PCI.
