About the Job

What you will do

Under little to no supervision, performs duties utilizing
knowledge and skills commensurate with the requirements of this position. In
this position, you will work in a team environment with engineers, designers,
technicians, and product managers to ensure successful product launch and
support. Work will focus on the electric actuator product line used for HVAC control
 . Provides
drafting and design support for engineering departments by assuming full drafting
responsibility for assigned projects from concept to customer with latitude for
independent action to resolve most problems with marketing, manufacturing, and

  1. Participates in the development and/or
    improvement of new and existing products for design change, cost reductions,
    warranty improvements, and manufacturability. 

  2. Prepares drawings of piece parts and assemblies
    of unusual, complex, or original concept in design requiring a high degree of
    precision and expertise from engineering data.

  3. Prepares layouts of complex units or assemblies
    for entire projects. 

  4. Follows established internal procedures and
    practices to ensure products are released to manufacturing smoothly. 

  5. Utilizes CAD system to prepare drawings and
    layouts as related to job. 

  6. Utilizes software application programs such as Microsoft Office, Mentor
    Graphics Expedition
     , Creo, etc. 

  7. Provides frequent, significant support to other
    teams, suppliers, internal/external customers, business units, and management.
    Responsible for providing specific work assignments to others. 

  8. Handles multiple complex or multi-activity tasks
    simultaneously. Has effective time management skills so that high priority
    tasks are completed as planned. 

  9. Uses department processes and goals when planning
    self-directed work activities. 

  10. Performs varied functions as dictated by product
    requirements including basic documentation, modeling, and detailed analysis. 

  11. Capable of taking on assignments ranging from day
    to day support to more difficult problems requiring imaginative solutions.

  12. Works with other members from this team as well
    as support other teams throughout the business unit.

  13. Defines and performs product building and evaluation for
    prototypes and production.

  14. Participates in manufacturing pilot runs and
    field installation evaluations. 

  15. Other duties as assigned. 

What we look for


  1. Associate Degree or equivalent military or formal
    training area of involvement. 

  2. Preferred 15 years experience in the technical
    field. Advanced skills, additional education and exceptional performance may
    alter this requirement. 

  3. Additional training or continuing education
    applicable to the position. Typically, an average of one course or seminar per
    year which pertains to the job. 

  4. Able to apply fundamental engineering theories,
    mathematics, mechanics, and physical science concepts to the job. 

  5. Experience with electrical schematic capture, PCB layout, 3D CAD
    modeling, parts database structures, BOM structures, and engineering change

  6. Preferred experience with Mentor Graphics
    Expedition, Mentor Graphics Valor, PTC Creo, and PTC Windchill.

  7. Preferred experience in the fields of electrical
    (120/230Vac), electronic, mechatronics
     , and
    electro-mechanical design. 

  8. Knowledge of manufacturing processes and
    limitations to assure conformance of design and fabrication of product. 

  9. Able to obtain and interpret datasheets for
    electrical and control components, and determine electrical and mechanical

  10. Experience with EMC design techniques.  

  11. Experience designing for regulatory compliance of
    UL, CE, and other global standards. 

  12. Preferred experience interfacing with global
    manufacturing facilities. 

  13. Demonstrated ability to work in a team
    environment, good written and oral communications skills, flexibility and
    adaptability to changing situations. 

  14. Ability to work independently, as well as direct
    the work of others. 

  15. Able to proficiently use the tools or materials
    required to perform typical assigned duties. 

  16. High attention to detail and solid organizational

  17. Possess a professional appearance and positive
    work attitude, in accordance with work area and company policies. 

  18. Able to develop
    skills necessary for advancement.
