Job Responsibilities

  • Plans, directs and controls the advertising sales, sponsorship and marketing solutions activities for ESPN RISE, and the evolving High School multiplatform initiative
    o Manages multi-platform/hybrid Account Executives who are accountable for achieving defined sales targets in a geographical region with the multi-platform assets of ESPN Rise that include print, events, broadcast, digital and mobile
    o Manages the Event Sponsorship function which provides expertise on both long-term sponsorship planning and construction as well as with short –term sponsor execution and deliverables
    o Manages the Marketing Solutions function which provides creative services, ideation and marketing support to both the sales and sponsorship groups
    o Leads and participates in making sales to strategically important clients and agencies
  • Participates in developing advertising sales strategies for advertising and event products, programs and services to meet or exceed established advertising and sponsorship sales goals and targets
    o Develops and implements advertising and sponsorship sales tactics
    o Functions as the Associate Publisher for all publications, collaborating with SVP Multimedia Sales in regards to pricing and positioning decisions
    o Regularly assesses and creates recommendations for team’s needs for support including research, finance, marketing and sales service
    o Accountable for the motivation, morale and productivity of account executives, event and marketing solutions
  • Liaises/fosters collaboration with broader Customer Marketing & Sales group to leverage client relationships, synergies and best-practices; primary points of contact include and are not limited to:
    o Senior Directors, Multimedia Sales
    o VPs, Marketing Solutions, Marketing Services, Sports Management
  • Functions as integral member of VP/GM ESPN Rise senior staff to represent advertising sales POV, input and analysis which is vital for decision making

    Required Qualifications
  • 8-10 years media sales, preferably print (event sponsorship sales and/or multimedia advertising sales a plus)
  • 3-4 years sales management
  • Self-starter and visionary used to an entrepreneurial environment
  • Client-focused selling
