Senior Director, Human Resources
Position Description:
RealNetworks, Inc. is a growing, web based, digital music, online gaming and streaming company headquartered in Seattle, Washington, that provides the universal platform for the delivery of any digital media, from any point of origin, across virtually any network, to any person on any Internet-enabled device, anywhere in the world.
The Senior Director of Human Resources will be a senior generalist ensuring that full HR support and services are provided to two of our major Business Units. These business units are comprised of employees located in both the US and Europe. The role requires someone who will be both strategic and tactical; leading business focused initiatives while being hands-on in implementing them into action on a day-to-day basis.
The candidate will become an integral part of the Senior Executives’ leadership teams and will provide strategic and tactical support to these key teams. In this capacity, the candidate will act as a corporate champion for industry-leading, “business strategic” human resource initiatives.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
• Develop a business partner relationship with executive and leadership teams in support of their business imperatives.
• Act as a business partner to identify, integrate and deliver corporate HR services to each of the business units/functions through best practices related to talent acquisition, talent development, organizational development, change management, leadership strategies, succession planning, compensation planning, talent retention, policy administration, and performance management.
• Work with the business unit executive teams to build an understanding of and a dependence upon world-class human resources practices that will support each business unit and accommodate future change and growth. Align business unit HR objectives to the Corporate HR roadmap.
Goals & Objectives:
• Create an organizational awareness of RealNetworks human resource policies and an institutionalized awareness of federal, state and local laws and regulations related to all conditions of employment.
• Work with the Corporate Development & Learning group and external parties to develop and deliver business unit specific training.
• Improve / build where needed the HR processes and infrastructure to support the continued global growth and profitability of RealNetworks.
CANDIDATE SKILLS & REQUIREMENTS:
• Minimum of 10-12 years experience in human resources.
• At least 5 years as a Human Resource Generalist at the Senior Management or Director level from within a dynamic, fast-paced environment within the high technology sector.
• Strong executive presence with strong communications skills and business acumen.
• Experience in a start-up environment, where wearing multiple hats and holding multiple responsibilities was the norm, is highly desirable.
• Extensive knowledge of staffing, employee relations, recruitment, organizational development and training, and metrics & planning
• Dynamic management, leadership and team building skills.
• Experience in planning and implementing HR organization strategy at the Division level.
• A team orientation that will allow the selected candidate to thrive in a fast paced, changing environment.
• A strong business mindset with an aptitude to gather and analyze data and translate that data into meaningful human resource initiatives.
• A high degree of comfort with providing clear leadership in an uncertain, high growth, fast paced, matrix culture.
• Compelling and naturally persuasive communication skills to influence the direction of ultimate outcome in a collaborative manner, and communicate decisions in a style that reflects a team oriented culture.
• Strong written communication skills to include a proficiency in general business software applications.
• Must be able to articulate and forecast how compensation and other aspects of Human Resources will impact the respective units both financially and from a cultural and competitive perspective.
• BA/BS degree required. MBA with HR/Management specialization preferred.
• International experience.
• Acquisition due diligence and integration.
