JOB DESCRIPTION
Senior Business Analyst to formulate and define system scope, objectives and requirements based on both user needs and understanding of applicable business systems for a large scale information systems integration and data analysis project. The Business Analyst will work with the department leaders and other users to define IT application business requirements and ensure that new or upgraded applications meet the customers business needs. Individual may define, develop and maintain more complex technical specifications, complex reports, test plans, and system / functional requirements. The person who will be most successful in this role will have the following skills and experience.
Analysis and Solution Definition
- Quickly understands the business issues and challenges of clients organization and industry.
- Identifies client organizations strengths and weaknesses and suggests areas of improvement.
- Reviews and edits requirements, specifications, business processes and recommendations related to proposed solution.
- Develops functional specifications and system design specifications for client engagements.
- Communicates effectively with clients to identify needs and evaluate alternative business solutions with project management.
- Trains others through both formal and informal training programs.
- Suggests areas for improvement in internal processes along with possible solutions.
Technical Understanding and Problem Solving
- Strong analytical and problem solving skills.
- Knowledge of business operations, project life cycle, strategies as well as business process and information flow and has a good understanding of re-engineering approaches.
- General knowledge of diverse technologies and new and current architectures.
- Skills in object, data, and/or process modeling, financial analysis and planning, business value analysis, and business process design.
- Possesses understanding in the areas of application programming, database and system design.
- Identifies critical issues with ease.
- Exhibits confidence and an extensive knowledge of emerging industry practices when solving business problems.
- Experience using formal software development methodologies.
- Experience with project management tools, including MS Project,
- Ability to understand business work flows and to test application programs.
- Ability to translate concepts and information into code specifications.
- Ability to identify tasks and dependencies in the creation of project plans.
Interpersonal
- A high degree of initiative and self-starting motivation.
- Ability to quickly analyze problem situations and develop a plan of attack.
- Ability to verbally communicate complex concepts.
- Ability to write clearly and informatively.
Business Application Experience
The successful candidate will have prior work experience with implementation and support of Ecommerce solutions
Other
- The successful candidate will have a Bachelors degree in computer science, or equivalent work experience.
- Eight to 10 years of prior related experience preferred.
- Competent to work at the highest technical level of most phases of business systems analysis while considering the business implications of the application of technology to the current and future business environment.
- CBAP certified a plus.
- Work will be performed in Troy, MI
