About Us:
For more than 65 years, Kaman Precision Products, a division of Kaman Aerospace Group, has been a leader in the development and manufacturer of: FUZING SYSTEMS – offers a wide range of services, from research and development to full scale production for safe/arm devices, fuzes, motor igniters, flight termination devices, and related equipment. Kaman fuzes can be found on many of the U.S. and international military’s missile and bomb systems. MEASURING SYSTEMS – offers high precision position/displacement sensing. Our eddy current systems can resolve position changes to the sub-atomic level and can operate at extreme levels of pressure and temperature.
About the Position:
Work under administrative direction of the Director of Engineering, is responsible for complex and/or innovative analog circuit design, and development of technology used in Fuzing systems products.
Responsibilities:
Design and develop a wide range of analog circuits used in Fuzing system products. Perform detailed design of analog circuits including high voltage DC-DC power supplies, sensing circuits, sequencing circuits, timers, logic and EMI suppression circuits. Investigate, evaluate, and recommend new, innovative technologies that have or might have specific application in new business areas or product enhancements. Responsible for device/component evaluation and characterization, modeling and simulation, schematic capture and bill of material generation, test box design, prototype construction and checkout. Prepare test methods, specifications and theory of operation; analyze equipment to establish operating parameters and conduct experimental tests; provide for finished device approval and prepare customer application information.
Experience with discrete analog and or ASIC based systems, circuit simulation using PSPICE and or Micro-CAP analysis tools, ORCAD, and MATH LAB.
Design and implement analog/mixed signal circuits using A/D, D/A converter and transistor level circuit design.
Experience with oscillators, OPAMPS, various active and passive filter circuits, linear and switch mode regulators, FETs, BJT’s, logic gates and flip flops, transient suppression and comparators, etc. Working knowledge of all types of passives, their characteristics, strengths and weaknesses including diodes, resistors and capacitors, etc.
Perform technical planning, system integration, verification and validation testing, cost and risk evaluation, specification compliance, supportability and effectiveness analyses for a total fuzing system of a complex or innovative nature. Analyses are performed at all levels of the development process, including: conceptualization, design, fabrication, test, installation, operation and maintenance. Ensure the logical and systematic conversion of customer requirements into the fuzing systems solution that acknowledge performance, schedule and cost constraints. Perform functional analysis, timeline analysis, detail trade studies, requirement allocations and interface definition studies to translate customer requirements into hardware and software specifications. Participate in proposal activities including technical writing and technical cost estimates.
Provide routine support functions such as vendor/supplier interaction to review, evaluate and select new components. Establish and maintain effective communication with customer regarding specification review, quotation, proposal preparation, field training and system installation. Serve as technical resource for purchasing, planning, ordering as requested.
Qualifications:
Bachelor’s Degree in Electrical Engineering or related discipline. 7 to 10 years of experience in Analog Circuit design.
Ability to obtain/maintain clearance required.
