Senior Engineer - Flight Operations

MTSI is seeking multiple Aviation and Operations experts to work various unmanned aircraft system (UAS) projects supporting a variety of government customers (i.e. DoD, DHS, Coast Guard). These individuals will be responsible for working closely with our customers to elicit their user needs and concepts and transform them into the appropriate acquisition documentation such as CONOPS, Operational Requirements Documents, and Performance Specifications. These documents will be used to support future acquisition decisions regarding UAS platform, payloads, and supporting equipment. Candidate should be comfortable with interacting with senior government officials (GS-15 and above) on a routine basis. Work would be conducted from the contractor facility (Alexandria, VA) with frequent interaction (once per week) at various customer locations (downtown DC). Overnight travel would occur about once per month for 2-3 nights each trip to various locations in the CONUS and its possessions.

Qualifications / Experience/ Skills:

• Candidate must be familiar with flight operations (military or private/commercial), airspace regulations, and publications. Candidate must have excellent writing and speaking communication skills as well as expertise in Microsoft Word, Power Point, and Excel. Undergraduate degree in engineering or science strongly recommended.
• The ideal candidate would have a military aviation rating, a master’s degree, and experience in systems engineering, an aviation-related program office, or flight testing.
• Bachelor’s degree required, Master’s degree preferred.   
• Current DoD SECRET clearance is required; a TOP SECRET clearance is desired.
